WEEK 4 TERM 4 Commencing Monday 4th November 2019

What a wonderful week three we enjoyed at Parkview Public School highlighted by a memorable Grandparents Day last Monday (photos included later in the newsletter) and also the meeting of our Kindergarten 2020 students with their 2020 Year 6 Buddies during our weekly transition sessions last Wednesday (photographs also included later in the Bulletin). The new week will be a memorable at Parkview Public School with some amazing student experiences scheduled with five of our students travelling to Sydney for two separate opportunities. Montana Nardi will represent our school in the NSW Finals of the Stage 2 Premiers Spelling Bee at the ABC Studios on the Ultimo Building in the central part of Sydney this Friday, 8th November. Montana qualified for this event as the Riverina Champion after winning the event hosted in Griffith in Term 3. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for Montana who will become the 5th Parkview PS Student to represent at the State Finals in the last ten years. We eagerly wait to here of Montana’s experiences when she returns from Sydney. This week also sees a first for Parkview with four students competing in individual events at the NSWPSSA Athletics Championships at Sydney Olympic Park. Kobe O’Callaghan, Angel Florijancic, Blake Heath and Jacobby O’Connell will all represent Riverina at the state titles. We wish all four children the very best for this opportunity. On the subject of NSWPSSA Sports, last week one of our staff members achieved a first for our school. Mr Jackson Goman spent last week managing the NSWPSSA Boys Touch Football Team at the School Sport Australia National Touch Football Championships in Canberra. The team went through the championships defeating arch rivals Queensland in the National Final 7-5. We extend congratulations to Mr Goman and the NSW team! An incredibly busy time of the year is upon us. There is much to look forward to and much to enjoy. Please consider the following as you plan your week: Class of 2019 Christmas Toy Drive Our Year 6 students are again hosting their Annual Toy Drive, hoping to add a little Christmas Cheer to the lives of families who need it across Leeton.

The Class of 2019 asks that if you can spare something for families less fortunate than yours, that you leave it under the Christmas Tree in the School Administration Office Foyer, from where they will be collected, wrapped and re-distributed by our Year 6 students later in the term

Thanks in advance for your support of this initiative. Parkview P&C Christmas Carnival A reminder as advertised on the front of the newsletter, the Parkview P&C Associatin will host its annual Christmas Carnival on Friday, 22nd November from 5pm-7.30pm. This event is our P&C’s major fundraiser of the year and is always a great community event. Once again thanks to generous sponsors we have been able to keep the cost if the evening to a minimum, with family tickets of $35 (including two adults and children under 16s years of age) including dinner and access to all of the amusements for the evening. The early bird special for tickets closes on Monday, 18th November so please get your pre-order tickets into the office prior to the this date.

We encourage all parents and carers who are yet to register their children to do so in the coming couple of days ahead of the next day of transition. If you do not have a registration form or have misplaced yours, please contact the school’s Administration Office to secure your copy. Please contact the school if you have any questions or concerns in relation to this process. School Banking School Banking day is Tuesday! Children are encouraged to bring their bank books to the school and leave them in their class banking folder for processing. These books will then be returned to students on a Wednesday in preparation for the following week. Students who are new to the school or wish to commence banking for the first time can contact the office to receive a pamphlet explaining the start up phase for individuals. It is a great financial literacy program so why not consider exposing your kids to the valuable skill of saving at a young age?
