Please spend the first five minutes of class writing questions into your cues column. When the annoying alarm sounds, we are going to talk about what I want in the summary part of your Cornell notes. 55 Slide 3 Important Documents (continued) The summary section is a chance for you to process all the information you have written down. Take the next two minutes to write one or two summary sentences about the Magna Carta, the English Bill of Rights, the Mayflower Compact, and Common Sense. Slide 4 On Friday, we will have our first Notes Check grade. I will need to see the following pages at the end of class on Friday: Room 2-203, Civics, and (your name) from 20 August Compound Vocabulary from 21 August The Enlightenment Notes from 22 August Important Documents Notes from 29-30 August Freyer Models from 30 August Please write this down ; notes checks count as multiple class assignments. When you are done jotting down the details of tomorrows notes check, get out a sheet of paper, head it, and title the paper Freyer Models Slide 5 FREYER MODEL FOR INSPIRATIONS Ive noticed this class has a little trouble following directions. To fix this problem, we are going to take the Freyer Model step by step. 1.If you followed the instructions on the previous page about heading and titling your paper, you wont have any directions to follow for the first 7 instructions. Sorry. Slide 6 FREYER MODEL FOR INSPIRATIONS 2.Get out a lined sheet of paper. If you dont have a loose-leaf page, please get one at the front of class. 3.Write your first name in the upper-right hand corner of your paper. 4.Write your last name below your first name. 5.Write todays date below your last name. 6.Write the period you have civics below todays date. 7.On the top line of the paper, write Freyer Models as your title. Slide 7 FREYER MODEL FOR INSPIRATIONS 8.Do paper boxing with your paper, but do not unfold it when you are done. 9.On the corner where the folds meet, fold a triangle. 10.Unfold your paper. 11.Draw a line on all of the folds except for the lines inside the diamond. The result should look like this: Slide 8 FREYER MODEL FOR INSPIRATIONS 12.Copy these words into your Freyer Model. Slide 9 13.You have fifteen minutes to write down each persons main idea and their connection to the Founding Fathers (meaning the part of America they inspired). In that 15 minutes, you will also have to come up with some things these three men have in common (about their ideas). You may use any resource in the room except for me. That means your notes and each other.
