    Instructions for addressing the Board and Requesting Agenda Items

    If members of the public would like to speak about an item on the agenda, a Speaker Sheet should be completed giving the number of the agenda iteor if wishing to speak to an item not on the agenda, stating the topic on which they wish to speak. The sheet should be presented to the Secretary tthe Board prior to the start of the meeting or prior to the start of the Public Comments section of the agenda. Individual speakers will be allowed threminutes to address the Board. The Board shall limit the total time for each agenda item to 20 minutes. AGENDA ITEMS may be addressed at the timthe Board considers the agenda item OR during Public Comments; NON AGENDA ITEMS may be addressed during Public Comments; PUBLIC HEARINmay be addressed at the time of the Public Hearing. If a member of the public would like an item placed on the agenda, please contact the districtoffice. In accordance with Education Code 35145.5, the Board cannot enter into a formal discussion or make a decision on any matter not on thisagenda during this meeting. The Board may take action to refer any subject discussed in a presentation at this Board meeting to a later meeting. TheBoard requests that all pagers and cell phones be turned off or placed on silent mode as a courtesy to those in the audience. A complete agenda packis available for review at the District Office, 600 Temple Avenue, Camarillo CA Monday through Thursday prior to the meeting.     1. Spotlight on Education - Santa Rosa Technology Magnet SchoolStudents and staff from Santa Rosa Technology Magnet School will shareactivities at their school with the Board of Trustees.

    H. Action Items (1)1. Approval of Single School Plans for Student Achievement for LosPrimeros School of Sciences and Arts and Santa Rosa TechnologyMagnet School for the 2013-2014 school year (D) (V)

    The Superintendent recommends approval of the School Single School Plansfor Student Achievement for Los Primeros School of Sciences and Arts andSanta Rosa Technology Magnet School. The Single School Plan for StudentAchievement is one of the many tools California School Districts are using tomeasure and track their academic achievement and accomplishments. It ishoped these plans will create a cycle of continuous improvement of studentperformance and to ensure that all students succeed in reaching academicstandards set by the State Board of Education.

    The Superintendent recommends the Board review the First Reading ofAdministrative Regulations (AR) 3542: School Bus Drivers. The DistrictAdministration recommends revisions based on changes in federal or stateregulations or changes in circumstances. The District maintains a contractwith the California School Boards Association (CSBA) for policy service whichincludes recommended language that reflects changes in state and/or federallaw. District staff review any proposed changes for applicability andappropriateness and for conformity with Pleasant Valley School Districtphilosophy and practice.

    M. Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment, Reports/Items/Policies1. Pleasant Valley School District Summer Camp 2014 (D)

    The Board will hear information on the Pleasant Valley School District's 2014Summer Camp program. The camp will be held at La Mariposa School andbegins on June 16 and will end on August 22. This is a full day camp, thehours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    2. Pleasant Valley School District Academic Summer School and YouthArts Academy - Summer 2014 (D)

    The Board will hear information on the plans for an Academic SummerSchool and the Youth Arts Academy in the summer of 2014. The Youth ArtsAcademy begins on June 19 and ends on July 16, 2014.

    N. Action Items (2)1. Appointment of District Auditor (D) (V)

    The Superintendent recommends approval of a three-year contract withVicenti, Lloyd, Stutzman LLP to be the District's audit firm for the fiscal years2013-14, 2014-15, and 2015-2016.

    2. 2013-14 Second Interim Financial Report (D) (V) The Superintendent recommends the Board approve the 2013-14 SecondInterim Budget Report as presented. The District is filing a positivecertification indicating that the District can meet its financial obligations forthis year and the subsequent two years.

    3. Adoption of Resolution No. 14-02 Proclaiming May 12-16, 2014 asStaff Appreciation Week (D) (V)

    The Superintendent recommends adoption of Resolution 14-02, proclaimingMay 12-16, 2014 as Staff Appreciation Week. This is a time to extendsincere appreciation to the certificated and classified employees for theirmany contributions to the education of our students and urge individualschool to schedule appropriate activities that celebrate and emphasize thecontributions of all staff.

    4. CSBA 2014 Delegate Assembly Election (D) (V) The Superintendent recommends the Board of Trustees vote for candidatesfor the 2014 CSBA Delegate Assembly. The candidates will serve a two yearterm.

    Each school year, every school is required, by law, to have a Safe SchoolPlan in place and revised by March 2nd. These plans have been approved byeach school's School Site Council and reviewed by the District's SchoolResource Officer. The Plans are only one part of each school's comprehensiveschool safety plan following SB 395.

    The Superintendent recommends the Board approve Board Policy (BP) 1431:Waivers.
