    y The Indian Plastics Industry has been growing at a rate of 12% over the years and with its truepotential harnessed, it is all set to reach the 12.5 MMT by consumption making India the 3`" largestconsumer of plastics by 2012.

    y To match this figure, India would require 42,000 new machines and around US $10 billion of projectinvestment by 2020.

    y Packaging, Electronics, Telecommunication, Infrastructure, Transportation, Healthcare andConsumer Durables are fast growing sectors of Indian economy offering growth for plasticsconsumption.

    y India has made considerable progress, in the last ten years, in attracting private investment into theinfrastructure sectors in telecommunication, ports, roads, power etc. The sector is estimated togrow at the rate of 10 % over the next few years. This sector offers tremendous opportunity forconsumption of plastics.

    THEME PAVILIONS

    PROPLAST

    An initiative in Plastindia 2006,PROPLAST at Plastindia 2009 was abig success. Spread over 3 Halls, it had 213 exhibitors. This exclusivepavilion, served as an ideal meeting ground and a one stop shopsource for OEM's, Product Packers, FMCG Companies, Retail Chains,Manufacturers of Automobile, White Goods, Trading etc.

    AGRIPARK

    Agripark was a dedicated Pavilion where the technicalities of Plasticsin Agriculture was demonstrated. Conservation of nature and naturalresources through effective use of plastics was also exhibited at thePavilion. It also highlighted the increase in productivity and yield byuse of plastics.

    RECYCLING PAVILION

    For the first time, at the Recycling Pavilion, live demonstration ofrecycling of plastics was exhibited at Plastindia 2009. Waste materialfrom the exhibition was collected, segregated and recycled at thepavilion. This exhibition of recycling was highly successful andappreciated by visitors at Plastindia 2009.

    ENERGY CONSERVATION PAVILION

    The Energy Conservation Pavilion was an innovation at Plastindia2009 where a pavilion was dedicated to demonstrate the use ofplastics in Energy Conservation. Exhibitors demonstrated theefficiency of use of plastics as also its energy conservation utility.

    END USER PAVILION

    The End User Pavilion was another first at Plastindia 2009. Users ofplastics showcased their products and the processing sector wasencouraged to develop solutions for the end users products.

    PLASTICS IN MEDICINE

    The growing use of plastics in Health care sector was recognized atPlastindia 2009 and Plastics in Medicine as a Pavilion was initiated atPlastindia 2009. Several enterprises dedicated to developing productsin the Healthcare sector exhibited their products atthe pavilion.
