Trips & OutingsThe Meeting PlaceWhy do people join camera clubs? Many reasons, but mostly they go something like “I would like to getout with my camera and would like to learn more about what I amdoing”. Plus people like to show their photographs and after a whilewives and families get bored and you need a fresh audience. The front page of the website for the last two weeks has carriedarticles about informal trips by members. The same people wereinvolved in both of these. That is sad because they were open to everyone. In preInternet days organising trips was complicated. But now thatwe have our website if you fancy a day out you simply put a post inthe Meeting Place forum and the odds are that you will have plentyof takers, someone to share the driving & petrol and otherphotographers to discuss how and why you took the pictures.Once you get back you have people to share them with and to givecomments. What's more you have the opportunity via Pixel and thewebsite to show the results to a wider audience and get somefeedback. What's more if you are new to the club there is no better way to get to know other members. So what is stopping you?See you in the Meeting Place.

HelpWe hope that by producing Pixel Xtra we introduce younot only to the activities provided by the club but also toother opportunities to get out and about to takephotographs or to see exhibitions or listen to interestingspeakers. However we can only do this if we know what is going onoutside the club.We need input from you tokeep Pixel Xtra and thecalendar uptodate. If you learn of anything which might be of interest to othermembers whether it be somewhere to go or something tosee please let us know. For general events and photoopportunities please email the details to our eventscoordinator Steward Ellett. [email protected] other stuff please email itto me [email protected]

Cover imagesI am sure that there is someone out there who would liketo have their image on the cover and if you would sendme an image you have every chance of it being used nextweek. The image should be about 1500 pixels wide. Pixel Xtra islandscape format and therefore landscape images arepreferred you will also note that type is placed to thebottom righthand corner so please take that into accountwhen choosing the photograph.
