PICkit1 PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE 1. Double-click on My Computer 2. Double-click on the T: drive 3. Double-click on the folder with your user name. There should be a file named tigers.asm in this folder. 4. Copy tigers.asm to the C:\Temp\tigers folder. If asked if you want to overwrite, say yes. 5. In the MPLAB program, select Project->Build All 6. Turn off the TIGERS circuit board 7. Using the small screwdriver, CAREFULLY remove the chip in the lower right corner of the board. Insert the screwdriver between the chip and the socket and lift gently. A good way to do this is to just rotate the screwdriver. Insert the screwdriver between the chip and the socket on the other end and lift gently until the chip comes loose. BE SURE TO GENTLY LIFT THE CHIP WITH THE SCREWDRIVER ON BOTH ENDS!!!! 8. Disconnect the cable from the programmer. 9. The chip has a small dimple on the top. Locate this dimple on the chip. 10. Carefully insert the chip in the programmer with the dimple at the location shown in the figure below. Make sure all the pins are in the holes, then, gently press down on the chip. 11. Connect the USB cable to the programmer. 12. In the MPLAB program, select a. Programmer->Connect b. Programmer->Erase Device c. Programmer->Program Device Dimple 13. Wait until the status bar at the bottom of the MPLAB window stops moving and “Program succeeded” is displayed. 14. Disconnect the USB cable from the programmer. 15. Make sure the TIGERS circuit board is turned off. 16. Carefully remove the chip from the programmer using the procedure described above. BE SURE TO GENTLY LIFT THE CHIP WITH THE SCREWDRIVER ON BOTH ENDS!!!! 17. Insert the chip in the TIGERS board with the dimple at the location shown in the figure below. 18. Turn the TIGERS board on.
