Operators are no longer restricted to traditional BOP configurations but can now configure the stack to suit their operational requirements while reducing the quantity of equipment held in inventory. Each module can be combined to form dual, triple, quad or quin configurations. The joining of the modules is achieved with a low height segment connection that provides safe and reliable connecting without adding any of the extra height that traditional single BOP stacking incurs. The smaller bore BOP’s are joined by means of tie bolts to reduce weight and to stop the modules rotating. A metal-to metal seal is available and can be used between all modules or just at the lower connection to provide metal-to metal sealing up to the shear ram. Each module is individually certified so that the documentation can be re- configured to match that of the BOP. The flexibility continues with the top and bottom connections. These are connected in the same manner as the bodies allowing you to set the assembly up exactly how you need it with Flange or Quick Unions. End connections are joined in the same way as the ram modules and can be standard quick union or flanged. A top connection with built-in fast test sub is available to minimise the stack-up height below the split point in the riser, so allowing more tool space. The Modular BOP provides maximum flexibility while easing maintenance operations and reducing back-up requirements for operators. All Phuel Modular BOPs have been extensively tested and qualified. Testing has been completed in accordance with API 16A (witnessed by a third party authority) involving fatigue, temperature and functional testing including shearing and guiding of all wire sizes. The BOPs are certified to API 16A, 6A and meet the requirements of Norsok D-002. This level of certification provides assurance that the BOP will operate as you need expect, when you need it most. That is why Phuel can use the term ‘BOP’, while other manufactures who call them ‘wireline valves’ cannot provide the same assurance. The Phuel Modular BOP is ideal for service companies who want to maximise the return on their asset investment while saving both money and time. Key Features

QualificationAll Phuel BOP’s are qualified to API 16A, but what does that mean exactly? The standard defines clear testing requirements for ram type blow out preventers: namely:Fatigue – To verify that the BOP can be cycled and pressure tested every day for 1-1/2 yearsRam Access – To verify that the body sealing performance is not compromised when the rams are accessedSealing Characteristics – To define operational limitations and prove that the BOP works as expectedShear Capabilities – To demonstrate that all specific wires can be cutRam Locking – To verify that the BOP will seal when just the manual locks are usedTemperature Verification – To show that all elastomers operate at pressure and temperature extremes

Only Phuel offer this level of certification as standard. Why accept anything less?

Balanced ActuatorsBoth the manual and hydraulic actuators can incorporate balanced pistons to reduce closing forces. This means that the closing force is the same independent of the well bore pressures. This can be advantageous for manual closing or for lowering required shear pressures, which would then reduce accumulator volume requirements. This feature is standard on the smaller bore and high pressure Phuel BOP’s and offered as an option on the other sizes.

Extrusion Resistant Inner SealsTemperature testing has shown that standard multi-line BOP seals will extrude and fail when subjected to both temperature and pressure. In order to achieve API 16A qualification Phuel developed an Inner seal with a flexible extrusion pad that deforms around the wire without damage, but resists the extrusion of the rubber. These Inner Seals are standard on all Phuel BOP’s.

Replaceable Valve SeatsAll Equalising Valves have the Phuel Replaceable Valve Seat so the sealing per-formance is always reliable. The equalising system is modular to suit the desired BOP configuration and provides a chemical injection and pressure gauge ports. The valves can be used to direct the injection or pressure measurement to any ram position required to suit the planned operation.
