Photopeach is a tool for creating very basic online slideshows. It is unique because it will allow you to create an interactive quiz, a 3-question multiple choice question shown on top of the picture itself, if you choose! It is an available feature, not a required one. Consider the potential for review or remediation of concepts. While not graded, the quiz does provide feedback to the user so it could be done as an independent exercise in groups or individually at home, if access is available to the student. This tool is also simple enough that students could use Photopeach as an alternative to Powerpoint for their class presentations. TO BEGIN Sign up for a free account. In subsequent sessions, you’ll use the Login link from its main page. UPLOAD PHOTOS From the Home page, click to Upload Photos

Navigate to the pictures on your computer that you want to use for your slideshow and select them: • To select a group of consecutively listed files, click the first picture, hold your Shift key

down while clicking the last in the group. • To select non-consecutive images, click the first, then hold down your Command key

while clicking the others you want to use. Click Open (when in Firefox, other browsers may use a different word) to begin the upload.

On the next screen, you can select to add more images (30 is the limit for free accounts) or you can choose to remove any by dragging their thumbnails to the right section.

Once you’re happy with the collection of pictures to use, please click Next. TITLE AND MUSIC

Give your show a title at the top, left. Just underneath the title field, you may want to select a different speed for your show. (It’s hard to know now, I realize since you have no baseline for comparison.) If you plan to add captions, you may want to use a slower speed (1 or 2) in order to give the viewer time to read. If you don’t have captions, you may want to speed things up, especially if you have a lot of pictures.

Select any music you may want to accompany the show.

• The first three tabs offer a selection of music they make available, some royalty free and others public domain.

• Note the YouTube option. You can use a song from a YouTube video. For now in RCPS,

of course, for it to flow, you would need to request that the video be unblocked. Remember that outside our network (home computers, phones), the song/video WILL play just fine!

• You can also select to have no music play. Be sure to click No Music, if this is your

choice.

• Uploading music is a premium ($) service not available in free accounts. Don’t worry about captions or the quiz aspect at the moment; that’s coming next! When you’re ready, please click Finish. PREVIEW A preview of your show will automatically begin on the next screen.

While the preview plays, you can hover over the picture to see various options:

• Along the bottom of the show, you can pause/stop, rewind, adjust volume, or show fullscreen.

• At the right side, you have sharing options. An important one, if you want to include

this show in your website, is the “pencil” icon where you will find the embed code for this show.

• Below the screen, you see two buttons – Story and Spiral. By default, you see the

“story” version which is just the typical show. “Spiral” is another type of show where you see small versions in a spiral movement on the screen. You can single click one to increase its size then it will continue showing the pictures in the larger version.

EDIT YOUR SHOW If you click the yellow Edit button at the top right of the screen, it provides you a variety of options.

EDIT CAPTIONS & PHOTOS First, click on a photo thumbnail at the top. Anything you do below will be reflected on the image that’s selected. Note that you can also drag and drop to reorder the slides.

Once you select a photo, you will see the following options:

• Click Quiz to ask a question and offer three multiple choice answers. Be sure to click the radio button beside the correct answer.

• Click Center if you want to put a caption in the center of the picture. Enter the

caption in the space provided.

• Click Bottom if you want to put a caption along the baseline of the picture. Enter the caption in the space provided.

• Click Blank if you want to create a blank slide, a black background onto which you can

put centered white text. You can drag and drop this slide to reorder, just as you can photos.

• Click Copy to duplicate the currently selected slide. This could be helpful if you want to provide more text or information or a quiz on the same photo.

• Click Delete to remove the highlighted photo/slide. Be careful – there’s no warning

once you click it!

• Note here, too, you can adjust the speed of the show with the slider.

• Click Preview to see your show and any changes made.

• Click OK to save and to see your show. EDIT MUSIC & TITLE

• This screen is just like the initial music/title screen offered. Make any desired changes and be sure to click Save.

ADD PHOTOS

• Upload more photos to the existing show and be sure to click the Add button before leaving the screen. New photos are added to the end of the show but can obviously be reorganized easily.

MANAGE COMMENTS

• Please note that commenting is turned ON by default. Here, you can turn them off, if you choose.

DELETE THIS SHOW

• No explanation needed here! Thankfully, you do get a warning, if you click this by mistake.

DOWNLOAD

• This feature is only offered to premium members.

WHO CAN SEE MY SHOW? Privacy controls are set in the “edit” section, as well. You can set the privacy level of your show.

Slideshows are "Unlisted" by default and other Photopeach users as well as visitors will not be able to see your unlisted or invitation required slideshows.

• Public o Visitors as well as other PhotoPeach users can view your public slideshow o It's searchable by search engines like Google or Yahoo. o The public slideshows are shown at PhotoPeach's Explore page at

http://photopeach.com/explore o If you want to embed a slideshow, it will prompt you to make your show public.

If you don’t want to do this, use one of the next two options.

• Unlisted o Only those who know the URL (link) of the slideshow can see your slideshow. o If you put a link in your webpage, users can see your show at the Photopeach

site. o Your show’s link is found in the URL bar as you view or edit your show.

• Invitation required

o Only those you specify by email can view your slideshow. o Use the “Email” option at the right of the screen when you hover your mouse

over your slideshow.
