Grants and Awards

Arizona Board of Regents grant for $12K for the development of an instructional training model and diagnostics in support of e-Learning based on the premise that educators have little time and minimal design experience for the development of instruction augmented with technology. The model, developed as browser-based training, fostered integration of instructional technology and learner centered education techniques to produce learning-object oriented instruction, 2004. Development of browser-based CALL (Computer Aided Language Learning) for the US Army, Ft. Bragg totaling approximately $1.47 million. The CALL redesigned the Basic Military Language Course (BMLC) allowing for traditional and distance education implementation in an integrative format using interactive multimedia and authentic resources available through the Internet. Specific concentration focused on the development of diagnostic and aggregate tracking software for testing through browser-based distance education instruction, 2001. Virginia Furrow Award of $3K for examining the role of portable automation in medical education, 1995. UA Instructional Computing grant of $60K for developing a specialized multimedia development facility for faculty and students, chaired design committee, 1994. Tektronix Corporation printing hardware grant of approximately $7.5K for developing improved instructional materials, 1993. UA Instructional Computing grant of $100K for developing a technology training center and a model for faculty development in technology at the University of Arizona, 1993. Artisoft Corporation hardware grant of approximately $12K for exploring innovative uses of networking in an educational setting, 1993.
