    1. INTRODUCTION

    (Briefly introduce the subject of your research and explain as to and why it isimportant and timely. This may include the objective of the research. Be concise

    and try to stimulate the readers interest in your proposed research.)

    2. SUMMARY OF THE PROPOSED DISSERTATION

    (Summarize your proposed dissertation and relate it to the next section on theStatement of Problem.)

    3. STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

    (It is important that you describe as clearly and concisely as you can theproblem that you would address in your research.)

    4. HYPOTHESIS(The hypothesis is stated in the form of a suggested solution to the problem. It isspeculative until evidence is found to confirm or discredit it. Analyzing the

    problem may generate one or more hypotheses).

    5. LITERATURE REVIEW(This must indicate familiarity with the state of the art and basic data ormaterials on the proposed research. The data and materials may include the

    review of all appropriate information on the topic, e.g. al-Quran, Hadith,

    statutes, books, law reports, law digests, yearbook, articles, research works,

    Government reports etc. A review and analysis of the literature also anticipatesome of the pitfalls ahead and show the readiness of the researcher to embarkon the research.)

    6. SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

    (Define the scope of your research and spell out its limitations. Limitation is anelement, which may affect aspects of the research that fall beyond the control ofthe researcher.)

    7. METHODOLOGY(State the research methods you plan to use in your research. This may involvevarious type of investigation you may adopt to produce reliable information.)

    8. TABLE OF CONTENTS(Outline the typical contents of your proposed dissertation into various tentativechapters.)

    9. PROPOSED SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES

    (State the duration [commencement date, as well as completion date] of each ofthe specific activities you would be undertaking during the period of your

    study.)

    10. BIBLIOGRAPHY(Titles and facts of publication must be cited in full.)
