Dont recite a list of boring factsDont speak in generic termsBe AppropriateMake sure it is in context (or spirit of conversation)Dont do it at a funeral or in a crisisBrag for each otherWhen to drop Brag BombsLook at the people in your room todayDrop some brag bombs about your colleagues. Share them in your chat box. 2223But People brag when they are insecure. That can be true about some people, but so what? They are not you and youre not insecure, so dont worry about it.

BE:AUTHENTICCOMPELLINGDELIVER IN A CONVERSATIONAL WAYTake credit for your part in successesTechno-TootingLearn how to replace face time I never see my boss anymore.Develop your story Make people want to know the ending Help people engage even when they arent thereHOW to Toot Without Blowing it24

But I couldnt have dont it without everyone. It was the whole teams accomplishment.Youre probably right; you couldn't have done it without them. However, that doesnt mean you didnt have a lot to do with the teams success. So while youre out there tooting for everyone else, toot your own horn too.24If you have particular career goals in mind (and you should) perform a "gap analysis." This is an analysis of where your skills and qualifications are at now compared to where they need to be to get to the next level and to achieve your overall career goals. Think about this carefully and honestly, and then work out a plan to close the gap.

GAP Analysis25

What are your skills? It's not enough to be great at your jobDevelop marketable skills that prepare you for more responsibilityWhen you gain skills and qualifications far beyond what your current job requires, your employer may see keeping you in that job as a waste of your talents.

GAP Analysis Develop Your Skills26

Seek out new skillsSet a goal to be the best you can beGo Back to SchoolYou can't beat it. May be a requirement for promotion. The more you learn, the more you earn. Talk to your supervisor, or the people in human resources, about what courses would most benefit the company. Many businesses will even contribute money to defray some of those education and training costs.
