May 2015 Dear Future Lady Gator, I am pleased to hear of your interest in Perry Hall High School Volleyball. My coaching staff and I are doing our best each year to build a competitive program. We are excited to know that you are interested in being one of our student-athletes. In order to help you prepare for the coming season this letter includes important information about trying out for the team. It is imperative that the forms listed below be completed and turned in before the first day of the season, which is August 12, 2015 in PHHS gym. In order to tryout you must be pre-registered prior to August 12th with the Athletic Director/Department, where you will need:

• Completed Physical Form • Parent Consent Form

You do not need to have prior playing experience. However, attending a camp or clinic prior to tryouts will give you an advantage. My staff and I will not only be looking at prior experience and skill level, but also at students athletes with good cardiovascular endurance that are willing to work hard. This means exercising for 30-60 minutes at least 3-5 times a week in order to increase blood flow and oxygen levels. You should also consider resistance training (lifting weights) to specifically strengthen your core, shoulders, lower back, and legs. A positive attitude, strong work ethic, self-motivation and displaying “coachability” will enhance your chances of becoming a member of the Gator Volleyball team. Tryouts will be August 12-15th from 8-11am; everyone is expected to participate in ALL tryouts. In addition to being physically and mentally prepared, be sure you have your athletic shoes and a labeled water bottle. You may want to consider wearing knee pads, bringing a towel and a healthy snack. Also, to assist you in your growth of competitive volleyball, we strongly encourage you to attend a summer camp or clinic to help refine or build your playing skills and overall understanding of the game. There are a wide variety of local camps to choose from and they vary by instructor, location, skill level, cost, type and date. Please speak with your parent/guardian about the possibility of attending one or more of these camps. If any questions should arise, please contact a coach before August 12th. Tricia Panageotou Laura Britton Katelyn Colley Head Varsity Coach Junior Varsity Coach Assistant Coach [email protected] [email protected] I wish you a safe, healthy, fun summer. I look forward to working with you in August! Sincerely, Ms. Tricia Panageotou Head Varsity Volleyball Coach

JV Summer Training Schedule Training Guidelines

1. The goal is to be able to run 3 miles non stop by the start of the season. 2. To determine at what level to start, look at the weekly totals.

If you have not been running, start at level one. If you have been running, start at the level similar to what you are running now.

3. Move to the next level when you feel strong and can run the present level easily. 4. Rest days may be taken on any day you need it to be. 5. If you have no way of measuring the distance you are running, run on the

track Track Scale: All tracks are 400 meters around, ¼ of a mile.

1 lap= ¼ mile 2 laps=1/2 mile 3 laps=3/4 4 laps= 1 mile 6. Listen to your body. If the schedule lists 2 miles for the day but your body is tire, do less or take a day off.

. 7. Stretch and do abd work after your run. 8. It's hard to run alone, get a partner. Running Schedule Level Workout I Workout II Workout III Workout IV Weekly Total
