Perfection in Aluminium and SteelPerfect ion in Aluminium and Steel
There is a grand maritime tradition in Monnickendam,
a harbour town just a few miles north of Amsterdam
which gained its city rights back in the 1350s. There has
continuously been a yard at the location of Hakvoort’s site
since the 1700s. Today the expanded Hakvoort facilities are
one of the cornerstones of Monnickendam, a town which
all owners and captains come to love when building a
superyacht there.
Anyone who finds themselves in Monnickendam
around the time of a launch is stopped in their tracks
when they see a Hakvoort yacht in the harbour. Each boat
is a testament to the Hakvoort way of doing things, from
the steel, aluminium & stainless steel work to the interior
construction, engineering and machinery installation.
Our well-trained craftsmen combine traditional skills with
the latest equipment, all backed up by a close association
with the world-renowned Dutch marine equipment
suppliers.
If you are looking to build a bespoke displacement
or planing superyacht from 30 to 65 metres of top
Dutch quality, the Hakvoort family and the people of
Monnickendam will welcome you with open arms.
Introducing HakvoortIntroducing Hakvoort
Welcome to Hakvoort Shipyard in the twenty-first century
Albert Hakvoort jr. Klaas HakvoortAlbert Hakvoort
The Hakvoort family first started hand-crafting boats
at its current location in 1919. Today, Klaas and Albert Jr
are the fourth generation at the helm of this remarkable
company, with their father Albert officially retired but still
contributing with the unrivalled experience he gained since
starting work in 1954.
After having built almost 180 wooden and later steel
fishing vessels, in 1982 the Hakvoort family decided to
switch their focus fully to sophisticated yachts in steel and
aluminium. They immediately captured the imagination of
the global yachting market with the popular aluminium
Striker sport fishermen, and have since built a formidable
reputation for custom-built yachts in all styles.
Putting clients first as a matter of course, the
Hakvoort yard blends its rich boatbuilding history
with forward-thinking innovation and Dutch quality
craftsmanship. We can therefore offer you a rare proposition
in the market today: luxurious superyachts from 30 to 65
metres in length. We span both sides of the 50-metre mark
and partner with highly skilled designers, naval architects,
artisans and engineers to build yachts which are universally
recognised for their quality, reliability and beauty.
A Hakvoort hull and superstructure are true works
of ‘technical art’, sculptures of numerous angles and
compound curves. When you gaze at their smooth,
shimmering surfaces, however, you would be hard pressed
to see that they are assembled from myriad pieces of metal.
This flawless shaping is a tribute to the skills of our first-
class metal workers who translate each naval architect’s lines
plan into a solid, seamless reality. Achieving such perfection
is not easy when working with steel and aluminium, which
must be cut and bent by heat and machines. Under the
craftsman’s guiding hand, however, every Hakvoort yacht
satisfies the most critical of all judges: the human eye.
Similarly, the hidden frames, girders and stringers
that give a hull its form and solidity must be meticulously
welded according to the architect’s plan and the class
society’s demands in terms of endurance, safety and
strength. It takes years of accumulated insight and
knowledge to achieve this goal.
Hakvoort’s design team also focuses on perfecting
every custom detail such as doors and hatches, while our
experts in stainless steel carefully create hidden hinges,
railings, bollards, anchor pockets and other items. It is in
these precise details that craftsmanship is translated into
true custom yacht building.

A superyacht interior is a synthesis of the desires
of each client and the individual ways they like to enjoy
their life on the water. Recognising that such a critical
component of the overall experience could not be
outsourced if we wished to remain truly committed to
meeting owner requirements, in 1999 Hakvoort founded
a fine joinery shop called Unlimited Interiors to build
our interiors to the stringent quality control levels that
we – and our clients – expect.
Unlimited Interiors has been a considerable success
in its own right, enabling us to offer you the most
comprehensive array of styles that an interior designer can
envisage. From traditional maritime to contemporary clean
via Art Deco and any style in-between, we have everything
in-house to meet your desires. Our work with precious
woods, fine marbles and mother-of-pearl inlays is much
praised by those in the know.
InteriorsInter iors
InteriorsInter iors
Unlimited Interiors is equipped with the latest
time-saving machines for repetitive production operations,
leaving skilled carpenters to hand-refine and finish the
wood to perfection. While a hull is under construction,
we build a full-size mock-up of all floor areas and
associated hull framing to exactly define the space
allotted to the interior and position furniture as it is built.
All galley, navigation, entertainment and other equipment
is pre-installed in the mock-up to assure a perfect fit
before being brought aboard.
This system allows clients to walk through their
interior in an early stage of construction making sure that it
fully meets their expectations. Once the owner and shipyard
approve, the furniture is removed, meticulously finished, and
installed onboard. All this means that Hakvoort is able to
translate — with great precision and artistry — the complex
technical drawings and style renderings provided by the
many renowned designers we are privileged to work with.
They, and of course their clients, are always welcome to the
woodwork shop to see the furniture taking shape.

Teamwork & AwardsTeamwork & Awards
If there is one defining quality that makes a Hakvoort
project special – whether that be a new build or a refit – it
is the deep sense of teamwork. Over the generations the
Hakvoort family has been blessed to attract and retain
exceptionally talented people across all disciplines.
Our craftsmen like nothing better than to work
together with owners, build captains, project managers,
designers and naval architects to create a genuinely
unparalleled superyacht. The results are frequently
nominated for the leading boat awards and we are proud
of this recognition from the global industry.
Join us on a journey of boatbuilding excellence
as together with your team we create a new Hakvoort
superyacht that will exceed your expectations in every
respect.
EngineeringEngineer ing
The engine room is the heart of a Hakvoort yacht
and its components must be reliable, accessible, durable
and low-maintenance. Properly installed machinery and
peripherals are crucial to a functional and workable
environment, and to ensure the finest comfort onboard.
Through careful noise and vibration analysis, we
build yachts that are extremely quiet and vibration-free,
enhanced by silencers, thorough insulation, structural
isolation of machinery and floating interiors. Hakvoort
uses only the best materials such as cupro-nickel piping
and ceramic coatings to eliminate corrosion, with all
piping meticulously insulated. Cabling is carefully laid out
and neatly installed from source to end-user.
Hakvoort engine rooms are designed and installed
exclusively by our inhouse team, and finished in the
same high-gloss paint used for exteriors to give them
the rich feel they deserve. At a yacht’s delivery, complete
drawings, schematics and operating instructions are
supplied to assure fail-safe handling. To the benefit of
Hakvoort clients, all this dedicated work is performed and
coordinated at our facility in Monnickendam.
