Who are they? Well, let me name a few. The church can’t do without faithful people. The Bible nowhere commends anyone for greatness or brilliance or intelligence, but rather for faithfulness! Some day, I hope to hear, “Well done thou good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Master” (Matt.25:21). In 1927, Lou Gehrig of the New York Yankees was named outstanding baseball player of the year! During his lifetime he played in more consecutive games than any other man in the history of the sport! He never missed a game! They called him the “Iron Man.” What made Lou Gehrig so great? It was his faithfulness! Now, if Jesus picked the most outstanding members of our church, who would it be? It would surely be the ones who were the most faithful! So my prayer is: “God, keep sending us faithful Christians!” We need people who are faithful in giving, attending, Christ-like living, serving and in their witness! We couldn’t get along without faithful people. We have so many, but you can’t have too many of them! The church can’t do without willing people. Oh sure, we have willing people – some are willing to work and serve, and others willing to let ’em! Ezekiel said, “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one” (Ezk. 22:30). Are you more willing to do the work of the world, or the work of the Lord? The club calls, the lodge calls, the organization calls, and we are ready and willing! The Lord calls, the church calls, and we’re too busy! The Lord and the church ought to have top priority in our lives! Are you among the willing or the whining? You can complain about what needs improving, or you can serve and ask, “What can I do to help this improve? These are some people our church just can’t do without – the faithful and the willing. If you are one of these, then our church can’t do without you, and we can’t have too many like you! May 11, 2014

People the Church Can’t Do Without There are some people in every church that you just can’t do without. Who are they? Well, let me name a few. The church can’t do without faithful people. Weird Animal Kids Camp June 22-27, 6:00pm-8:30pm. Fun for ages 3 years to 5th grade. We will begin our week with a family picnic on Sunday June 22. We invite all family members to attend our picnic to learn about our fun filled week involving our weird

animals friends. This year’s theme is not only to help children learn about God, but to teach them that no matter how different they are, God loves them. We are very excited for the children to take part in our fun filled crafts that they can continue to enjoy long after camp is over. Each day, children will be introduced to a new weird animal friend, make a memorable craft and enjoy a delicious snack, while making friends and connecting with God.

Registration begins May 4th, 2014. You may register on-line by going to wadsumc.org and clicking on the link or in the upper lobby at our

Children’s Ministry Spring Service ProjectChildren are decorating bags, writing letters and assembling care packages for all those people from our church going on mission trips this summer. Can you help provide items for the care packages? The following can be put in the cart by the elevator in the main lobby:

Granola bars, hard candy, decks of cards, bouncy balls, small games/toys, individual bags of chips, paper/pencils, small devotional booklets, bubbles…just about anything fun that can fit in a lunch sized bag!

In addition, we are collecting new or like new stuffed animals to give to Tienne Wilkin and Sufficient Grace Ministries to provide a hug to parents who have experienced the loss of a new baby.

Children’s Promotions to New Age Level ClassesCurrent 6th graders will have some special attention paid to them beginning on May 4. All are invited to be sure to attend Sunday School (room 209) that day at 11:00am because near the beginning, the jROC youth will come up and get them and bring them to their new Sunday School class for the rest of the school year. They will get acquainted with the 6th graders, tell them more about being in the youth group and tell them about some special plans for the summer.

As a reminder, all grade school children are promoted to their new grade beginning June 1. In addition, nursery and preschool children are also promoted to their new classes as of June 1 as follows:

If they are 2, they will begin attending the 2-5 year old class in room 006;

If they will begin kindergarten in the fall, they will attend worship with their families for the summer, and the K-4th grade special time during worship.

Evacuation Plans Please be aware that if a weather emergency arises, you will be notified by staff or ushers who will be monitoring the situation.

Pentecost Sunday is June 8Pentecost is the Greek name for the Feast of Weeks, a prominent feast in the calendar of ancient Israel celebrating the giving of the Law on Sinai. This feast is still celebrated in Judaism as Shavuot. Later it became a feast commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and other followers of Jesus Christ, as described in the Acts of the Apostles 2:1–31.For this reason, Pentecost is sometimes described by some Christians today as the “Birthday of the Church”.

As we worship on June 8, we will be wearing red. Red is the liturgical color associated with the Holy Spirit. It recalls the red in the tongues of flames in which the Holy Spirit descended.

It is also a tradition in our church that we donate red geraniums on Pentecost that are then planted outside in our flower beds for the summer. Bring in geraniums on June 8 and set them on the table provided. We thank you for helping to add warmth and color to

the church lawn.

May God richly bless you as you graduate.
