Visioning Prayer: Almighty and ever living God, ruler of all things in heaven and on earth, and by
whose grace we have been called into a goodly fellowship of faith: Send down upon our bishops, other
clergy, and all your faithful people an outpouring of your Holy Spirit for the renewal and mission of
your Church. Give us a vision of where you would lead your Church, and so discern new things that
you are doing in your Church and the world. By your grace, save us from unnecessary distractions, so
that we may be able to determine your will for us, go forward perceiving that which is right, and have
the courage to pursue the same, to the end that we may utilise the gifts which you have given to each of
us for the furtherance of your will in simplicity, confidence and steadfastness; through Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen.
Prayer for Discipleship: Heavenly Father, we thank you that you have awakened your church to hear
again the call of our Saviour Jesus Christ to come to Him to learn from Him. Grant that as we say ‘yes’
to His call to discipleship, your Holy Spirit will enable us so completely to commit all the areas of our
lives to His service, that in our personal, family and church lives, our work, recreational and social
lives, we would act as Jesus would have acted if he were in our place; in His name and for His sake we
pray. Amen
Sisters and Brothers in Christ, welcome to
another celebration of the Lord’s Day. A
warm welcome to those who may be visiting
us for the first time; please feel free to join
us again.
We continue to collect non-perishable food
items and toiletries for the students. Kindly
take these on Sundays. Thanks to those who
continue to give donations. Please speak
with Professor James Robertson if you plan
to make a contribution.
A copy of the bulletin is uploaded on the
website on Friday or Saturday each week.
Members can download a copy of the bulle-
tin onto their electronic device and thereby
help us protect the environment by enabling
us to print less copies of the bulletin each
week. In the meanwhile we are still seeking
volunteers to print the weekly bulletin. We
use an average of fifty copies each week.
The annual Anglican Togetherness Group
(ATG) weekend observances will run from
Friday to Sunday September 7 to 9. The
theme for the weekend is Restorative Jus-
tice. On Friday evening of the 7th there will
be an address by the Minister of Justice,
Honorable Delroy Church starting at 6:00pm
at Church of the Ascension. On Saturday the
8th there is a workshop at St Margaret’s
Church Hall. Everyone is invited to attend
and participate in the weekend celebrations.
In our discussion about discipleship during
the season of Lent we were reminded of the
five wonders of discipleship based on St
John 3:16. These are 1) God loves the
world; 2) He gave His only Son; 3) Anyone
who believes; 4) Will not perish; 5) Will
have everlasting life. These five wonders,
given to everyone as a gift, is to be experi-
enced, lived on a daily basis and shared with
those we meet. Psalm 139:14. Discipleship
as a gift means finding and living out our
purpose in life. God has created us for a
purpose and our goal is to live out this pur-
pose according to God’s will. Second, disci-
pleship is to be experienced. God loves us
and gives us Jesus Christ in order that we
may experience God in the flesh. We can
experience God in our bodies simply by
paying attention to our bodies. Physical
exercise, proper nutrition, taking medication
on time, drinking adequate amount of fluid
etc. enable us to pay attention to the experi-
ence of God in our bodies. God is good and
the extent to which we treat ourselves well
we can experience God in our bodies. Fi-
nally, discipleship is to be lived and shared
on a daily basis. In other words our lives are
to testify to the five wonders of St John
3:16. We are loved and are to live in love
and share love with others. We are gifts to
the world and must affirm others as gifts as
well. Belief in God is our response to disci-
pleship as a gift. Our belief in God is a testi-
mony that we are not in charge of ourselves.
We are accountable to God. God will not
cause any of His beloved to perish. God has
created us for eternity and it starts now (II
Cor 6:2). Discipleship is getting in tuned
with eternity now and making it real for
others to see and experience.
Every blessing, Garth

Alleluia! Alleluia! The Lord God Almighty reigns
Gospel Reading St .John 6: 35, 41-51
God will I bless all times; his praise my mouth shall still express.
My soul shall boast in God: the meek shall hear with joyfulness.
Extol the Lord with me, let us exalt his name together.
I sought the Lord, he heard, and did me from all fears deliver.
They look'd to him, and lighten'd were: not shamed were their faces.
This poor man cry'd, God heard, and sav'd
him from all his distresses.
The angel of the Lord encamps, and round encompasseth
All those about that do him fear, and them delivereth.
O taste and see that God is good: who trusts in him is bless'd.
Fear God his saints: none that him fear shall be with want oppress'd.
Give glory to the Father Son And Spirit equally
As from the first it was is now And evermore shall be
Alleluia! Alleluia! The Lord God Almighty reigns
