Legal, Moral, and Tolerance The recent uproar over the Indiana (and Arkansas) state Religious Freedom Resto-ration Act should give all of us pause for concern as our great country struggles
with the relationship between what is le-gal, what is moral, and how we tolerate the difference. What is legal changes
over time as “we the people” decide what is moral does not change as our Creator has long ago given us a moral code, a
natural law. Fortunately, there remains significant agreement between what is
currently legal and what has always been moral (Do not steal, do not murder…). Unfortunately, there also are examples
where what is currently legal, is in direct conflict with what has always been moral. In the sphere of legal, but immoral acts, tolerance is the respect for an individual’s God given free will as they pursue “life, liberty, and happiness.” Tolerance does not imply agreement, support, or justifi-
cation of any immoral act, but simply acknowledges the individual has the right to choose. Charitable conversations, de-bates, attempts to influence, and peace-ful protests are signs of tolerance, not
hate speech, when they fully respect the individual’s God given free will. Intoler-
ance is when “we the people” deliberately change what is legal in an attempt to force others to violate the moral code
given by our Creator. Intolerance is reli-gious persecution. Ultimately intolerance
fails because for believers, the moral code given by our Creator always trumps
the people’s shifting laws. Pray for our country!

Dear Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Hear the prayers we offer for our priests. Let them know clearly the work that You are calling them to do. Grant them every grace to answer Your call with courage, love,

Weekly Reflection ~ May 24th Pentecost Sunday
“The Pentecost story gives us a vivid picture of the Holy Spirit filling the apostles with the grace to go forth and spread the Good
News. That was then but what about now? Do you see yourself as being sent by the
Spirit to bring the Good News to others? We are all called to this mission. Some in very direct, overt ways; but most of us are called to fulfill this mission in our ordinary
lives doing the ordinary things of life. Consider how you are allowing the Spirit to
speak through your life.” by S.T. Productions”
“As the Father has sent me, so I send you” -John 20:21
Celebration of Ordination
On June 7, 2015, Father Scott Hill will celebrate his First Holy Mass at St. Roch at 10:30am. Afterwards, a
reception with a meal will be held in the parish hall. There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex of the church.
All parishioners planning on attending are asked to bring a vegetable dish.
Everything else will be provided.
Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Breathe, into me, Holy Sprit, that my
thoughts may all be holy.
Move in me, Holy Sprit, that my work too
may all be holy.
Attract my heart, Holy Spirit, that I may
love only what is holy.
Strengthen me, Holy Spirit, that I may
defend all that is holy.
Protect me, Holy Spirit, that I may always
be holy.
~St. Augustine
