Pre-Job Brief Assessment• The Pre-Job Assessment form is a simple one page form

that is used to identify risks/hazards before a job/task is started for the day.

• This form does not replace any client-required forms/permits, but is rather intended as a supplemental tool that is used daily with the crew(s) so that the job is discussed, hazards are identified and mitigated and everyone is clear on their part of the job.

• By implementing this process, we’ve given our employees the opportunity to step back, take some time, and really think about the hazards that face them in the moment.

• Tracer Construction has developed an awareness tool called SCAN 360. This tool is a reminder to all employees to scan the work area 360 degrees vertically and horizontally for hazards and possible scenarios that could cause an incident or injury.

• This is a simple tool but we believe it helps bring up the awareness level and helps develop the habit of seeing the work place as a big picture.

• H.O.P.E. = Hazard Observation Program Evaluation

• H.O.P.E is a hazard recognition program that encourages all levels of employees to identify hazards in the workplace and either eliminate or mitigate those hazards

• A key H.O.P.E principle is “See it, Fix it”

How does it work?• FIRST, DO A PRE-JOB BRIEF OR SCAN 360, LOOKING FOR POTENTIAL

HAZARDS (UNSAFE CONDITION/UNSAFE BEHAVIOR)• IF YOU SEE A HAZARD, ELIMINATE IT. IF YOU CAN’T ELIMINATE

THEN MITIGATE.• DO I NEED TO GET MY SUPERVISOR INVOLVED TO GET THE HAZARD

ELIMINATED?• DO I NEED TO GET THE CUSTOMER INVOLVED TO GET THE HAZARD

ELIMINATED?• THE H.O.P.E. PROGRAM IS A TOOL TO HELP ENSURE THE RIGHT

PEOPLE GET INVOLVED.

How does it work?• NEXT, SUBMIT A H.O.P.E. FORM TO YOUR

SUPERVISOR• THE FORM IS TURNED INTO SAFETY• THE HAZARDS ARE DOCUMENTED ALONG

WITH ACTION TAKEN AND CLOSE OUT DATES.

• THE INFORMATION IS SHARED IN TOOL BOX TALKS.
