Section II : CRITERIA WISE ANNALYSIS
2.1 Curricular Aspects :
2.1.1 Curricular planning & Implementation:
Updated curriculum of the programs offered Organized process of curriculum updation in
place with participation from affiliated colleges for UG courses
Feedback is obtained from the stakeholders before course updation
2.1.2 Academic Flexibility : Semester system. Choice based credit system be strengthened. Societal needs and ongoing trends are accounted for
while designing new courses.
2.1.3 Curriculum Enrichment : Courses are reviewed and revised every four years.
Integrated courses have been introduced. New courses have been introduced at regular
intervals. 2.1.4 Feedback System : Formal feedback from students is obtained.
Informal feedback from other stakeholders. Systematic and organized analysis of feedback
system is required Academic integrity audit needs initiation to sustain
quality and enhancements.
2.2 Teaching – Learning &Evaluation :
2.2.1 Student Enrolment and profile Wide publicity through newspapers, website and prospectus. Admission process is transparent. Admission process follows State reservation
policy.
2.2.2 Catering to student diversity Majority of the students are from Gujarat.
Good representation of gender and socio-economic profile.
Remedial coaching for slow learners exists. Adequate academic support structures for
differently abled students exist.
2.2.3 Teaching – Learning Process Academic calendar is in place.
ICT based teaching learning facilities exist in most of the faculties.

2.3 Research, Consultancy and Extension
2.3.1 Promotion of Research Research environment needs to be strengthened in departments.
University needs to promote interdisciplinary research.
Teachers are encouraged to get research projects from funding agencies.
2.3.2 Resource Mobilization for Research
Huge dependence on government funding agencies for research facility establishments.
Adequately leveraging state government resources for research fund mobilization.
Industry support for research needs to be explored.
2.3.3 Research Facilities Wi-Fi connectivity, LAN facility available. Good research labs in most of the science
departments. Administrative support for research facilities
creation. More funds required for maintenance and
upgradation of research facilities.
2.3.4 Research Publications and Awards Quality of research publications by faculty in social science subjects requires upgradation.
Some of the departments have their own peer reviewed journals.
Patents and Copyrights submissions are encouraged.

Consultancy requires strengthening in light of the industry in the region.
2.3.6 Extension activities and Institutional Social Responsibility
Sensitive to societal needs and requirements. Extension activities through local NGOs. Faculty and students are encouraged to participate
in socially responsible and outreach activities.
2.3.7 Collaborations Collaborations with some industry and
academic institutions are in place. International Collaborations need to be
strengthened. Collaborations be aimed towards students
placements. 2.4 Infrastructure and Learning Resources
2.4.1 Physical Facilities Sprawling campus with excellent physical infrastructure.
Adequate physical facilities available to support the ongoing academic, sporting and cultural activities.
Superior infrastructure for teachers and students, developmental requirements.
Facilities for challenged faculty and students exist on the campus.
2.4.2 Library as a Learning Resource Library advisory committee in place. Good numbers of volumes and title of books, and
digital resources. Departmental libraries need attention.
Internet and reprography facilities available in central library.
No. of Journals in the Library needs to be increased.
2.4.3 IT Infrastructure Some classrooms are equipped with LCD projectors
and Interactive board. Sufficient number of Computer Labs with
internet and Wi-fi facility exists. University website can be more informative and
regularly updated.
2.4.4 Maintenance of campus facilities
Estate section in charge of maintaining university facilities.
AMC practice limited to few departments. More funding and care required to maintain

2.5.1 Student Mentoring and Support Comprehensive mentoring system be devloped. Grievance Redressal and anti-sexual
harassment cells exist. Career Counselling and remedial classes are
producing results.

Students are encouraged to appear for national and international level examinations.
Many students join M. Phil and Ph.D. programmes
2.5.3 Student Participation and activities
Students participation in seminars, conferences, workshops is encouraged
Sports and cultural activities are held. Few students have won laurels at National and
International levels. Fitness and sports facility be extended to
student free.

2.6.1 Institutional Vision and Leadership
University is progressing with its well defined vision.
Democratic participatory governance through various committees.
Cooperative administration.
2.6.2 Strategy development and Deployment
Strategic vision appears to be functioning. Resource deployment is required towards
creating research infrastructure and fellowships. Nurturing of talents is required towards meeting
projected man power needs. Integration of institutional facilities expansion
with the academic expansion dreams of departments required.
2.6.3 Faculty Empowerment Strategies Faculty welfare schemes exit. Encouragement for continuous faculty
development through forging academic alliances.

Sound financial status of the University. Adherence to budget. Internal and External Audit conducted. Finance and account departments are
computerized. Mobilization of funds through consultancy and
project funding be enhanced.
2.6.5 Internal Quality Assurance system IQAC is functioning and grants received from UGC.
AQAR prepared and sent to NAAC regularly.
Academic audit is conducted by Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat (KCG).
IQAC should strengthen research and consultancy services.
2.7 Innovations and Best Practices
2.7.1 Environment Consciousness Energy audits be carried out periodically. Good efforts are manifested for green initiative on
campus. Tobacco free campus.
2.7.2 Innovations Few innovative academic courses are initiated.
Webcasting is regular feature with media server.
Efforts are made for taking the benefit out down to the society.
2.7.3 Best Practices Financial management. Women safety. Conducive and congenial research environment
and seed money is provided by the University.
Section III : OVERALL ANALYSIS
3.1 Institutional Strength Adequate physical infrastructure for furthering teaching and research.
Good financial position. Supportive and sensitive leadership. Qualified faculty. Comprehensive coverage of diverse range of
courses.
3.2 Institutional Weakness Restricted research culture. Restrictive geographic spread of teachers and
students. Centralized placement Cell needs to be initiated. Permanent headship and deanship acting as
deterrent on faculty moral.

3.3 Institutional Challenges : Motivating faculty for more consultancy. Sustaining academic leadership position in the
region. Filling of seats in arts and social science subjects.
Attracting good quality students. Obtaining government permission for recruitment
of teachers. 3.4 Institutional Opportunities
To upscale central library from teaching to research library.
Capitalising on industrial strength. Scope for further growth and expansion in
interdisciplinary research. Encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation
related activities.
Section IV : Recommendations for Quality Enhancement of the Institution
Recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff be speeded up.
Use of computerization be increased in university administration.
External students may be brought under Distance Education system through Distance
Education Council to arrest the declining admission in social sciences.
Public relations office to be established to institutionalize external communications.
Virtual class room facility may be established to strengthen teaching through use of ICT.
Amount of University Research fellowships be increased. A mechanism for timely
payment of UGC/CSIR fellowship also should be evolved.
Results should be announced as per academic calendar.
The post of Registrar should be equivalent to that of a Professor; for which necessary
steps be initiated at the highest level.
Drug research center-a good initiative- to be made sustainable and more meaningful and
for which Teachers/Scientists associated with it should be encouraged to launch
companies and for this necessary rules be amended by the University.
Inculcation of research culture in the University may be fostered through introduction of
research development schemes and encouraging every faculty member to participate.
Qualified lady medical doctor in allopathic medicine and a trained nurse should be
immediately posted in the University health center.
Environment friendly initiatives as rain water harvesting, no polythene zone, no horn
zone etc be undertaken.

Central alumni cell be leveraged for students interest as placement, internship, projects,
scholarships, communicative English etc.
Departmental libraries to be organized and supervised by central library and staff
manning departmental libraries be trained by them.
Girls hostel be provided with proper dining hall and kitchen.
Awareness about anti sexual harassment and anti-ragging be provided to the students by
displaying at various locations.
