Peel District School Board The Amazing Grade 7 Learning Journey Written By: Nirma The grade 7 learning journey was a blast! It was all about superheroes and natural disasters. At first, each person did research about a natural disaster; then, as a group, we chose one natural disaster to build our story upon. The next thing we did was making up a short story; with heroes, villains, sidekicks, and citizens. Then we put that story into pictures, otherwise known as a comic. Everyone’s creative juices got flowing; to make up some really fascinating sto- ries, and to take creative photos! A week later, each class got to work with the MacBook’s for a whole day, to put together their groups comic. We were obviously being assessed on our group work and collaboration skills here! When the day was over, each group had a completed comic (about 4 pages long) and was ready to go. The comics were then printed and marked by their teachers. Later on, as a class, we decided on some criteria that would make a good comic. Then each group presented their comic to their class; it was funny and interesting to watch what the other groups came up with. Lastly, the whole class decided on one comic to be the best, based on our criteria. The winning comics were presented at the 2 nd annual ECMS Film Festival! First in our classes we competed to see who came on top with the best presentation. After one group from each class was sent to the school wide competition and the winning charity would receive $500 dollars! The evaluation was done by three judges.. It was a lot of fun to see every ones work however only one could win. After a very hard decision the judges displayed the results. Free the Children from 810 won first place! Second was Unicef from 82 and third place was class 86 also doing Free the Children. In conclusion we had a lot of fun as students and I'm sure the teachers did too and it was also a terrific experience. Everything we had expected!

Grade 8 Learning Journey Talha

The grade 8 term 1 learning journey was a fantastically planned learning course which was a great opportunity for all of our grade 8s to discover and implement new evaluating techniques. We looked at a number of problems in every class including MST, L.A, History, P.E, and Music. In all of these classes we looked at different ethical issues. Krazy For Kandalore!!!

Camping? In winter? Totally awesome!!! The grade six's went on an overnight trip to Camp Kandalore. Initially planned for Feb, a snowstorm postponed it to March. At camp, there were soooo many things to do, such as indoor/outdoor rappelling, snowshoeing, cross country-skiing on a frozen lake or trails, mattressing (going down a hill on a mattress), and Inuit Blan-ket Toss (IBT) etc. Besides being all out fun, these activities were totally new ex-periences for so many of us. Also, it was amazingly beautiful out there, always a picture perfect moment. All in all, it was a fabulous trip and I doubt that there was any homesickness. I’m sure the good food helped! The gods were happy, they shone the sun each day and their stars and con-stellations each night.

March Break By: Fizza

Every day we work hard at ECMS; and whenever

we get a break from working hard we definitely

take advantage of that break! March break was an

example of this; students and staff received 9 days

off school, which means 9 days of fun for ECMS!

You may find this hard to believe, but 100 000 to

200 000 people visit the Panama Beach in Florida

every March Break. This is just one beach, think

about how many people in total visit Florida to have

fun over the March Break; many of us had a lot

SKI TRIP By: Elijah

It was a blast at Horseshoe Valley Ski Resort, for our

annual ECMS Ski Trip. We sure brought that ECMS

energy with us because whether we slipped or slid, fell

or swerved. We still had an awesome day in the cold,

after all we are Canadian. It was a good time to bond

and have fun with friends. I hope you guys enjoyed the

ski trip as much as I did. We're all looking forward to

it, next year. Brrr, i'll be sure to bring my hot chocolate.

Twilight by; Stephanie Meyer Twilight by Stephanie Meyer is a very popular book which is why I am sure that most of you have heard of it. But it did-n’t win the #1 New York Times Bestseller for nothing. Twilight is an amazing novel incorporating romance, fantasy, sus-pense, and more. In twilight, Bella and Edward attempt to protect her from a cunning vampire named James. This novel is now a major motion picture and I guarantee that you will love both. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for something good to read, and while you‘re at it, look up the rest of the series: #1 Twilight #2 New moon #3 Eclipse #4 Breaking Dawn

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief By: Rick Riordan The lightning thief is the first book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series written by Rick Riordan. In this rivet-ing adventure, Rick uses Greek mythology to invent the series. This novel ( including the rest of the series) is both edu-cational and entertaining. From the first page, he captures the reader’s attention mixing comedy, facts and fun together as he describes Percy’s dilemma as he is convicted of stealing Zeus’s master Lightning bolt. Now, having found out that he is a half- blood, Percy, Annabeth and Grover must find the lightning bolt to clear his name before the summer solstice. The rest of the series includes: #1 The Lightning Thief #2 The Sea of Monsters #3 The Titan’s Curse #4 The Battle of the Labyrinth #5 The Last Olympians Other Books By the Author: -The Lost Hero -The Red Pyramid
