    Observation Stage

    Pedagogical Event N1

During the first class I had to observe on the 8 th grade that was something that caughtmy attention. The teacher, Ms. Erika, was trying to do her class but some students weremaking a lot of noise specially Xaviera. The teacher told her Xaviera please listen towhat I am saying, but Xaviera continued doing it so MS. Erika wrote her name on theboard, she laughed and stayed quiet for a moment, then she continued talking so Ms.Erika add a line on the bard beside her name. Xaviera then stayed quit for long time butfinally she couldn t stand it and began to make noise again and the teacher told herXaviera look I m going to add another line to your name , do you know what does itmean? So Xaviera told her: si miss no hablo mas ahora s que me callo y le pongo

atencin pero porfa no me anote . But Ms. Erika wrote a negative observation in theclass book in order to punish Xaviera.

During the rest of the lesson Xaviera paid attention to the class and stayed quit.

    Reflection N1

The event I mentioned above occurred during the first lesson I observed. The first thingI thought was that my guide teacher was very strict because she didn t talked to

Xaviera, she didnt told her in different ways that she must pay attention to the class, onthe contrary, the teacher warned the student only once and then she just continued

adding lines on the board until she finally wrote the observation in the class book, butafter the lesson finished, when I went to talk to my guide teacher I realized she wasright, that she had made a good decision. She advised me to do the same thing duringmy practicum because that was the only way the students control themselves and payattention to the lesson. I told her that, that wasn t my intention but if I was in troubles Iwould do it.

For me it was good to observe a situation like that one before starting teaching, since I

was able to know the class immediately, so when I first started doing my classes Italked to the students and I told them that my intention wasn t being all the timescreaming and writing their names on the board but that if it was necessary I will do it sothat it will be up to them not to have negative observations in my class and fortunatelymy relationship teacher-students has been good and we are getting on very well.

    Team teaching Stage

    Pedagogical Event N2

The event I am going to describe occurred during the second day of my team teachingperiod in the 1 st year of high school. Ms. Erika told the students the activity they must doconsisted on describing a member of their family using the adjectives for describingpersonality. She also told them that if they had any doubt they could ask her and me(Miss Deisy).

The students started to do their task and when they had something to ask they didnt come to me but only to Ms. Erika. So my guide teacher stopped the class and talked tothe students.

After that, the students started to ask me some questions and everything was okay.

    Reflection N2

When the event previously mentioned occurred I felt very uncomfortable and I thoughtmaybe the students didn t want me to do classes. I was afraid. But when they started toask me some questions of them told me that it was just because they were shy andothers told me that Ms. Erika was very demanding with them so they didn t want tocommit errors on the task she has given to them so they thought the best option was toask her instead of me.

After I left the school I was thinking about this situation an d I realized that it was mymistake that the students didn t want to ask me because during my observation stage(that was very short) I never had too much time to talk to them and T tried to beunnoticed inside the class in order to let the class flow and not to disturb it with mypresence. So after this event I decide to interact with any time I could; during thebreaks, before the classes, etc. in order to gain their trust before starting my teachingprocess. Fortunately, everything was good and during the rest of my team teachingperiod the students allowed me to help them.

    Teaching Stage

    Pedagogical Event N3

Teaching: An event that occurred more than once during my teaching process was thatevery time I gave the instructions for any activity the students must do, they asked merepeated times to give the instructions again because it wasn t clear, so I had to repeatthe instructions around three times every time I wanted them to do some activity inorder to make them understand.

Reflection N3 Classroom and Control Issues

The event mentioned above occurred many times and I didn t know why that washappening till I talked to my guide teacher who told me that Ii was giving the instructionfor the activities too fast and I realized she was right. So, I started to explain theactivities not so fast and asking them if they had understood.

Things were getting better, now I didn t have to repeat the instructions thrice butsometimes I had to do it again and I didn t know why.

After my first supervision in which Miss Isabel went to observe one of my lessons, shenoticed I had this problem with the students, that they werent catching on the myexplanations completely, so she told me she wanted to talked to me about my lessonbecause she needed to give some feedback. I went to see her and she told me that shehad noticed I was having problems on giving the students the instructions for theactivities, I told her I was working on that but that I still didn t know why there wassomething missing because the students couldn t understand completely myexplanations.

Ms. Isabel told me that what I needed to do was to give more examples and explainmore that once but writing examples on the board for being sure they understood.

I started to do the things as both of my teachers had told me to do them and everything

started to flow and function. My lessons are better now, I am not saying they are perfectbut they have improved a big deal as my guide teacher Ms. Erika had told me.
