Peak climbing is usually done on mountains that are lower than 6500 meters of height. The

Nepal Mountaineering Association is the official mountaineering association of Nepal. It

maintains a list of peaks that can be trekked and climbed. Nepal has more than 20 peaks

that are available for peak climbing purposes.

Island Peak or Imja Tse

Imja Tse is the local name for Island Peak which the most popular of destinations for peak

climbers. It is located within the Everest region. This peak is quite challenging. Those who

have become tired of simply trekking can give peak climbing in Island Peak a try. The

highest point of Island peak is 6189 meters.

Mera Peak

This is one of the highest peaks that can be climbed in Nepal. The maximum elevation of

Mera Peak is 6476 meters. Mera Peak offers an incredible and breathtaking panoramic view

of some of the tallest mountains in the world including Mt. Everest. Other famous mountains

that you can see from Mera peak are Cho-Oyu, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Chamlang,

and Nuptse.

Lobuche Peak

Lobuche actually has two peaks called Lobuche East and Lobuche West. The peak on

eastern side has a height of 6119 meters while the West peak has a height of 6145 meters.

Climbing the eastern peak can be quite adventurous. However, some may find it challenging

if they are not completely familiar or comfortable with peak climbing.

Mt. Kyajo Ri

The height of this mountain is 6186 meters. This peak is considered to be among the most

difficult and challenging peaks to climb in Nepal. This mountain is located in a rather remote

valley in Nepal called the Khumbu valley. Climbing this is usually done in an expedition style

by setting up base and secondary camps.
