Fraudster  techniques  becoming  more  advanced  Techniques  used  in  online  card-­‐not-­‐present  fraud  are  becoming  more  and  more  sophis6cated.  Tradi6onal  fraud  screening  tools  can  only  determine  if  a  credit  card  is  legi6mate  or  if  the  user-­‐entered  account  informa6on  matches  those  on  record.  Today,  fraudsters  can  obtain  personal  credit  card  informa6on,  pose  as  the  legi6mate  card  holder,  and  bypass  standard  fraud  checks.

Looking  at  fraud  from  a  different  angle    We  approach  fraud  screening  in  a  different  way.  We  examine  an  online  transac6on  from  various  angles.  Our  tools  are  not  geared  towards  verifying  the  authen6city  of  the  credit  card  details  used  for  the  purchase,  but  rather,  iden6fying  if  the  purchaser  is  the  legi6mate  card  holder.  Through  our  analysis,  we  have  been  able  to  iden6fy  traits  and  paberns  that  are  associated  with  fraudulent  orders.  By  asking  the  right  ques6ons,  we  can  provide  e-­‐commerce  businesses  with  the  necessary  informa6on  to  detect  fraudulent  orders  before  the  payment  is  processed.

PayEasy  Payment  Gateway  Features Within  our  own  Gateway  we  have  established  several  basic  parameters  that  help  both  the  Gateway  Operator  and  the  merchant  reduce  the  risk  of  fraud  before  the  transac6on  is  passed  to  our  Fraud  Preven6on  Service  Provider  and  then  the  acquirer.    

These  features  include  :    ‣ Specifying  the  maximum  number  of  6mes  a  credit  card  can  be  used  within  a  specified  period.  If  this  is  exceeded  the  Payment  Gateway  automa6cally  locks  that  credit  card  number  out  for  the  specified  period.  If  the  customer  abempts  to  use  the  card  number  with  that  merchant  during  this  lock  out  period  the  lock  out  period  is  then  extended  from  the  6me  that  the  last  abempt  was  made  using  that  card  number.    

‣ Specifying  the  maximum  number  of  6mes  transac6ons  can  be  sent  from  an  IP  Address  within  a  specified  period  of  6me.  If  this  is  exceeded  the  Payment  Gateway  automa6cally  locks  all  transac6ons  out  coming  from  that  IP  Address  for  the  specified  period.  If  transac6ons  are  abempted  from  that  IP  Address  within  the  lock  out  period  the  lock  out  period  is  automa6cally  extended  from  the  6me  of  the  last  abempt.    

‣ Specifying  the  maximum  number  of  different  credit  card  transac6ons  (numbers)  that  can  be  sent  from  the  same  email  address  within  a  specified  period  of  6me.    

‣ Specifying  the  maximum  number  of  email  addresses  that  can  be  associated  with  a  specific  credit  card  number  within  a  specified  period  of  6me.

These  features  include  :    ‣ Specifying  the  maximum  number  of  valid  transac6ons  that  can  be  processed  for  a  day  and/or  month.  The  merchant  is  automa6cally  no6fied  when  the  limit  is  about  to  be  exceeded.    

‣ Specifying  the  maximum  value  of  valid  transac6ons  that  can  be  processed  for  a  day  and/or  month.  The  merchant  is  automa6cally  advised  when  the  limit  is  about  to  be  exceeded.  

‣ Repor6ng  all  transac6ons  over  a  specified  amount.    

‣ Repor6ng  all  transac6ons  under  a  specified  amount.    

‣ Merchant  has  the  op6on  of  using  the  Email  No6fica6on  Service.  Here  the  PayEasy  Payment  Gateway  sends  an  email  confirma6on  that  a  credit  card  transac6on  has  been  processed  for  the  cardholder  by  the  merchant.  If  the  email  bounces  the  Email  Verifica6on  Service  automa6cally  reverses  out  the  transac6on  and  the  merchant  is  automa6cally  advised.  

‣ Seeng  the  minimum  and  maximum  fraud  score  returned  from  our  compliance  plaform.  With  this  all  scores  over  the  maximum  are  automa6cally  rejected.  All  scores  under  the  minimum  are  automa6cally  sent  to  the  acquirer  for  valida6on.  Scores  between  the  minimum  and  maximum  are  flagged  and  returned  to  the  merchant  for  further  evalua6on  before  being  sent  to  the  acquirer  for  valida6on.
