METHOD STATEMENT Surface Preparation and Condition by Others 1. Level the surface of the existing asphalt or concrete pavement using a fine road mill and/or apply a regulating layer. 2. Complete all crack/joint sealing >5mm width with suitable filler, pothole filling with hot/cold asphalt mix and base repairs, as and where necessary, to ensure a uniform level surface. All repair work must be carried out following current standards. 3. Where the pavement surface is seriously damaged, uneven or has extensive cracking the best solution is to install a regulating course, preferably with a dense graded asphalt mix of minimum average thickness of 19mm. 4. On planed surfaces install a regulating course, as above, prior to placing Pavegrid ® . 5. The pavement shall be cleaned using a mechanical sweeper/vacuum (or hand brushing for small areas) and be free of oil, vegetation, sand, dirt, water, gravel and other debris. 6. The installation surface must be between 5°C (40°F) and 40°C (104°F) Product Preparation In order to preserve the adhesive properties, store rolls vertically in a clean, dry, dust free environment at the job site. Ensure product and packaging is not damaged during transportation and handling. Test for Surface Condition 1. Test and record the surface temperature. 2. If between 5°C (40°F) and 40°C (104°F), continue test. 3. If outside these temperature parameters, do not install Pavegrid ® . 4. Cut 1m² of Pavegrid ® . 5. Place on the area to be paved. 6. Activate self-adhesive glue by rolling with a rubber coated drum roller, or pneumatic tired roller. 7. Insert hook of spring balance under the centre of Pavegrid ® . 8. Pull upwards until Pavegrid ® starts to ‘pull-off’ from the surface and record the value. 9. If 2 Kg or more, the installation may commence. Stop immediately if Pavegrid ® moves or ripples. 10. If less than 2 Kg, do not install Pavegrid ® . METHODSTATEMENT

Surface Preparation and Condition by Others1.

4. On planed surfaces install a regulating course, as above, prior to placing Pavegrid®.

5. The pavement shall be cleaned using a mechanical sweeper/vacuum (or hand brushing for small areas) and be free of oil, vegetation, sand, dirt, water, gravel and other debris.

6. The installation surface must be between 5°C (40°F) and 40°C (104°F)

Product PreparationIn order to preserve the adhesive properties, store rolls vertically in a clean, dry, dust free environment atthe job site. Ensure product and packaging is not damaged during transportation and handling.

Test for Surface Condition1. Test and record the surface temperature.

2. If between 5°C (40°F) and 40°C (104°F), continue test.

3. If outside these temperature parameters, do not install Pavegrid®.

4. Cut 1m² of Pavegrid®.

5. Place on the area to be paved.

6. Activate self-adhesive glue by rolling with a rubber coated drum roller, or pneumatic tired roller.

7. Insert hook of spring balance under the centre of Pavegrid®.

8. Pull upwards until Pavegrid® starts to ‘pull-off’ from the surface and record the value.

9. If 2 Kg or more, the installation may commence. Stop immediately if Pavegrid® moves or ripples.

10. If less than 2 Kg, do not install Pavegrid®.

Inasmuch as Road Solutions Ltd has no control over installation design, installation workmanship, accessory materials,or conditions of application, Road Solutions Ltd does not warrant the performance or results of any installation or useof Pavegrid® This warranty disclaimer includes all implied warranties, statutory or otherwise, including the warranty of merchantability and of fitness for a particular purpose.

The purchaser and/or user should perform its own test to determine the suitability and fitness of the product for the particular purpose desired in any given situation.

1. Pavegrid® shall be installed with the self-adhesive glue in contact with the road surface.

2. Fix leading edge of the grid with geo-grid clips, prior to unrolling to avoid slippage and potential injury during installation. Moreover, this will prevent ‘pick up’ of the leading edge.

3. Lay flat by hand or mechanical applicator, the surface of the grid shall be rolled with a rubber coated drum roller, or pneumatic tyre roller, under sufficient tension and pressure to eliminate ripples and activate the self-adhesive glue. Tyres/roller must be cleaned regularly with asphalt cleaning agent.

4. Should ripples occur, remove by pulling the grid tight or in extreme cases (on tight radii), by cutting and laying flat in the direction of pavement construction.

5. Cut around ironworks with utility knife or cutting tool.

6. Longitudinal joints must overlap by 50mm minimum. Transverse joints must over lap by 100mm minimum in direction of pavement construction.

7. Traffic is not allowed on the grid. Construction, emergency and/or restricted traffic may run on the grid, with extreme care and attention. Ensure damage is not caused to the grid by vehicles turning or braking etc. Any damaged sections must be removed and patched, taking care to completely cover the damaged area prior to overlaying. The grid must be kept clean of oil, vegetation, sand, dirt, water, gravel and other debris.

8. Conventional pavement construction methods may now commence with a minimum of 40mm depth compacted asphalt overlay. This value must not be less. Pavegrid® must be covered in the same construction phase.

9. Temperature of asphalt <175°C

METHODSTATEMENT

Installation Method

Quality Control and Qualification1. In conformance with the Road Solutions Ltd Quality Assurance Policy and the monitoring of Control, an Installation Compliance Record must be fully completed and retained on file.

2. All binder applications must be complaint with Uniformity Test for the Transverse Distribution of Binder BS 1707:1989 Appendix A or similar approved. All binder must comply with BS 13808:2005 Specification for Bitumen Road Emulsion, BS 3690 Part 1-Bitumen for Building and Civil Engineering, BS 12591-Bitumen and Bituminous Binders-Specification for Paving Grade Bitumen’s or similar approved.
