    ModelingTravelTimeDistributionunderuncertainties from

    THEWORDOF

Travel Time distribution or variability in travel time is most useful indicator to measure performance and reliability oftransportation system. The properties of thisdistribution are described by various uncertainties which are derived fromsupply side, demand side factors of a particular road network. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the traveltime distribution under uncertain from traffic volumeas demand side factor and capacity variation as supplyside factor.Demand variation represents the uncertainty of traffic flow within the dayor from day to day. Capacity is measured as arandom variable in travel time reliability analysis. The capacity can be estimated in two ways such as direct empiricaland indirect empirical methods. This study presents the direct approach for estimating the distribution of capacity forurban corridor by considering the Product Limit Method (PLM).The theory behind the PLMis based on explicit division

of flow observations. This allowsestimation of the capacity distribution. Travel Time variation hasbeen modelled underthese uncertainties. For this, probabilistic simulation model was considered in this study. Probabilistic models aremostly used and efficient for analyzing the stochastic relation between the response and uncertain explanatoryvariable.

This model wasapplied to an urban arterial corridor on National Highway number 2 of Delhi-Mathura Road. Consistentone week video graphic data in morning hours was collected for estimating travel time through vehicle license platematching. Traffic volume and speed data has been collected during morning hours. Capacity distribution has beenestimated by using PLM method. Results show that travel time obtained using probabilistic model is well distributedand follows actual travel time distribution. And also found that this model is efficient for analyzing the stochastic relationbetween the response and uncertain explanatory variable.
