PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

FITNESS STATIONS

Earlier this week, seven new fitness stations have been

installed, creating a fitness trail across the back of the oval.

This has been made possible due to the fantastic support the

Student Leadership team received from our school community

through the Colour Run afternoon. We will be having a special

opening ceremony on Friday, September 14th 2018 at 2.45pm.

DISCOVERY NIGHT

Our new Foundation students for 2019, enjoyed an evening

with the current Foundation teachers last night. It was

fantastic to see so many families take the opportunity to

‘discover’ the learning spaces and activities with their children.

AMBULANCE COVER

Just a friendly reminder to parents and carers that it is strongly

encouraged for families to have up-to-date ambulance cover.

Parents should be aware that they are responsible for any

medical expenses, such as ambulance costs incurred if their

child is injured or requires an ambulance at school, or whilst

participating in a school activity.

LOST PROPERTY

With the very changeable weather we are having, there are a

vast amount of school jumpers located in the Lost Property

area. If your child is missing an item of clothing please have

them check the Lost Property and reclaim ownership!

In line with our SunSmart Policy - the wearing of school hats

in the playground is required from Monday 3rd September

2018 until the end of April next year.

Could you ensure your child(ren) bring their hats to school

each day, to avoid having to play in an undercover area.

Please note that we have a very limited supply

of school hats that can be purchased from the

office for $5.00, if your child has misplaced

their hat.

SUN SMART POLICY FOOTY DAY

We are holding our annual Footy Day on Friday 21st

September, the last day of Term 3.

We are inviting children to come to school wearing their

favourite team colours in support of this day and also invite

students to bring in coins to form a coin line. All proceeds

raised from the coin line will be donated to the State School

Relief and the Fight Cancer Foundation.

Thank you for your support.

MAGPIE NESTING SEASON

MAGPIE NESTING SEASON

Magpie nesting season is upon us. It is important to realise

that not all magpies swoop, and the few that do, only swoop

while chicks are in the nest – usually around 4 to 6 weeks.

A few tips to avoid being swooped are:

Stay away from the magpie area where possible, or

move through the area quickly without running.

If you walk through a magpie area, locate the bird and

watch it constantly.

Wear a hat and sunglasses or carry an umbrella.

Students who ride their bikes should dismount and

walk.

If the magpie swoops you, don’t stop or crouch down.

Move on quickly but don’t run.

A possible solution to avoid magpies swooping is to try

attaching a few cable ties on the bike helmets and have

them sticking up. The cable ties can be purchased at

Bunnings or Mitre 10.

For more information on living safely with magpies, call the

EPA Wildlife Hotline on 1300 130 372.
