LA GRANGE HIGHLANDS DISTRICT 106 1ST GRADE The vision of the Strategic Plan is to create a learning environment that enables our students to be responsible and accountable for their own learning. LA GRANGE HIGHLANDS DISTRICT 1061ST GRADE

The vision of the Strategic Plan is to create a learning

1ST GRADE - READING1. I can name letters and sounds.

2. I can manipulate sounds (phonemic segmentation fluency and letter sound fluency).

3. I can read word wall words.

4. I can read fluently (accurately, with appropriate rate, and with expression).

5. I can figure out a word by using my decoding strategies (blends, digraphs, spelling patterns).

6. I can use reading strategies to help me understand what I have read (ask and answer questions, make connections, predict, visualize, use context clues and picture clues, reread, retell and sequence).

7. I can identify the main idea and details of the text when they are clearly stated.

8. I can identify parts of a story (characters, setting, events/plot, problem and solution).

9. I can talk about how stories, books, events and characters are feeling.

10. I can use text features to help me understand what I am reading (headings, table of contents, glossaries).
