God Loves Us

We enter the Season of Lent with a blessing – a rainbow set in the clouds to remind us of God’s promise to every living

creature.

Judas the Betrayer

Can anything good be said about Judas? . . . I guess he was good with money.

Come, listen to the conversation God has with Judas the Betrayer.

Would you like to

provide flowers to

enhance our worship

space? Look for new forms

in the narthex, and offer

your bouquet in memory or

honor of your loved ones.

Return your order form to

the church office.

Can you assist in

worship? Worship assistants are an im-portant ministry and help the congregation and guests feel comfortable in worship knowing that all needs are being met. Sign up sheets are available in the narthex for you to sign up. If you have questions about what these positions do, or how they work, please contact Pastor Jim, or call Lacy in the church office.

Pastoral Care

If you know of anyone who is hospitalized,

homebound, or in need of Pastoral Care, you

are invited to contact Spirit Lutheran at

715-832-2421 or

Lead Pastor, Jim Ahlquist, 715-210-2245 or

Visitation Pastor, Roger Benrud, 715-836-7158

“If you will listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God . . . “

(Exodus 15:26).

Come to worship at 4:00 (Holden Evening – traditional) or at 6:30

(Contemporary Choir) and listen for “The Voice of God” as the sound will

echo throughout the darkened sanctuary. Each Wednesday during Lent,

this “voice” will consistently speak the message of God, and the word of

forgiveness, compassion, and eternity to those near the Cross.

As the congregation listens, the words from Scripture come alive in a

new and intimate way. Whether you worship at 4:00 or 6:30, plan to join

us for dinner between 5:00 and 6:00. SHINE, Confirmation, and Adult

Education will be shortened, from 6:00 until 6:30.

2-21 “Judas the Betrayer”

2-28 “Peter’s Long Night”

3-7 “Pilate, the Busy Bureaucrat”

3-14 “Barabbas, the Murderer”

3-21 “Dysmas, the Thief on the Cross”

3-29 “The Centurion’s Fears” 6:30 pm Worship only

(Maundy Thursday – First Supper for some, Last Supper for Jesus)

3-30 “Mary, the Mother of Jesus” 6:30 pm Worship only

(Good Friday Tenebrae)

4-1 “The Gardener” 8:30 and 10:30 Worship

(Easter (The best April Fools ever!)

for a blessing.

card and note any

changes in your contact

information.

•Wine (in the large blue chal-

ice) and grape juice (in

the small brown chalice)

are available at each

communion station.

to you. Please notify an

usher of this need.

Things to know at

Spirit Lutheran!

Here a few things to know to

help make worship a great

experience.

Restrooms •A restroom is located in the

east hallway by the offices.

Additional restrooms are

located throughout the

building. Ushers will be

happy to direct you.

Assistance in

Worship •Assistive hearing devices are

available in the back of the

worship space. Ushers will

help you locate these devic-

es and explain their use.

•Periodically, name tags will be

used as we continue to get

to know one another.

•If you need any assistance

please ask our ushers and

they will be happy to help

you.

•Our sanctuary has four wheel-

chair-accessible seating

locations (at the ends of the

shortened pews). There are

two at the ends of the front

pews and two at the end of

the center transept aisle.

We ask that the pew behind

the center transept aisle be

reserved for those worship-

pers using walkers and/or

who have other mobility

challenges.

Prayer is powerful and we need to pray for each oth-

er within our family of Spirit. This is the start of our

prayer list, with people being prayed for by name in

worship. Please take a moment each day to include

these people in your prayers.

In February, lend a helping hand to our Free Clinic Meal Ministry as we prepare a meal for the volun-

teer Health Care Team at the Free Clinic on Tuesday, February 20th . This ministry provides a nour-

ishing meal for the volunteer Health Care Team which is made up of 25 professionals who come di-

rectly from their daytime work to care for clients at the Free Clinic. While doing your grocery shop-

ping, pick up specific food items for the dinner that is being prepared for the Health Care Team. Vol-

unteers are welcome to lend a hand in the kitchen as the meal is prepared on Tuesday, February

20th at 3:30 p.m. in the kitchen at Spirit Lutheran.

To donate specific food items or help in meal preparation, a sign-up sheet is located on the clip

board in the Narthex. Please bring food items to the Spirit Lutheran kitchen by noon Monday, Febru-

ary 19th (clearly mark the items “Free Clinic”). All are welcome to become involved in this ministry,

many hands make light work! Questions, contact the church office or Jeff Lorentz at jdlo-

[email protected]

What counts as a spiritual gift? Cleaning, Painting, Repairing, Coordinating, Sewing, All of the above and more! Can cleaning really be a gift? And what about coordinating…that’s just talking to people, right? The answer is they are all gifts. They are gifts that this congregation used to come together and restore a shelter for families in our community this past summer. Last week we were honored by Western Dairyland and received the Community Action Award for our work on the Adopt an Apartment project. Before presenting the award, Carrie Gustafson of Western Dairyland stated that, “our clients feel like they are coming home”. Spirit Lutheran, YOU have opened up your heart to our community and are making a difference. Congratulations on this accomplishment, but we all know there is more work to do. Thank you for your generous heart and willingness to “answer the call”. Peace, The Mission and Outreach Committee

CVFC is a community- based clinic dedicated to improving the health and lives of impover-ished, uninsured, and underinsured families living in the greater Chippewa Valley ar-ea. CVFC offers basic and acute health care, chronic disease treatment, social services through case management, vision care with free eyes glasses, mental health services, dental/oral health and medications free of charge to individuals who have no rea-sonable health care alternative. All services and medications are provided at no cost to our patients and we turn no one away on their first visit. We have several comprehensive pro-grams such as eye care clinic where optometrists and specialists see patients from much of the surrounding area because insurance and Medicare routinely does not provide affordable coverage in this area. In continuing to find ways to address the unmet health care needs, we have opened a dental clinic and community support is crucial for this service to be sus-tainable.
