I would hang out with Jesus for a day. I would hang out with Jesus because we could walk on water, heal the sick, and do the supernatural.

If I could spend one day with anyone, I would spend it with Jimi Hendrix. He is an awesome guitarist, a huge inspiration to singers

and guitar players alike, and he plays great music.

Living at a swimming pool twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred sixty-five days a year is rough, AND, smelling like one is even worse. I have no one better to agree with me than Michael Phelps. Michael Phelps is an awesome swimmer and I would love to spend a day with him. He could teach me how to swim better and help me with drills. Spending a day with Michael Phelps would be amazing because he is a nice person, could fix my strokes, and I could observe what an Olympic swimmer eats.

Hanging out with “the King,” being followed by groupies, and being

the center of attention, who wouldn’t want that? If I could spend one day with any person it would have to be Elvis. Elvis was the man back in the day with his swiveling hips and twitching upper lip. Who wouldn’t think he’s dreamy? Furthermore, just that time period in general interests me. And of course the fame. The fame alone drives me to want to spend a day with Elvis.

BRAINSTORMING

The best way to ensure that you have good content in your writing is to follow these steps:1. Brainstorm & Categorize

2. Determine analysis/importance of topic

3. Describe & Write in DETAIL

BRAINSTORMING &

Categorizing For the following prompt, make a T-Chart

of examples you could use in a paper.

COMPASSION OR VIOLENCE - Which has a greater impact on society?

BRAINSTORMING &

Categorizing For the following prompt, make a brainstormed list of examples you could use in a paper.

“Great thoughs speak only to a thoughtful mind, but great actions speak to all humankind.” - Emily Bissell

How do “great actions speak to all humankind?” Write an essay explaining your understanding of this quote.

Analysis & importance

The next step is to come up with the analysis or importance of each example in reference to the topic.

In light of the examples of violence you presented, did society change at all? Did we make new laws/regulations? Do we act/feel/behave differently? Did the structure of society, political views, or economy change? If so, those are IMPACTS. Explain them!

DESCRIBE/WRITE The last step is to sit down and write it! Make

sure you give descriptive detail. Remember, it’s importance that you tie your analysis back to the topic sentence/prompt at all times!

*See sample paragraphs for examples.
