6. How are magazine covers appealing/attractive to the audience? Does the appeal/attraction differ than that of the film? (is it aimed at same target audience

as other advertising such as trailer/film?)

• The main focus of a magazine is the image/main person because its the first thing that catches the audience attention. As its in the centre and mostly in a direct address position towards whoever is reading it.

• The second thing that is appealling is the main title because its at the top of the magazine and its the boldest font out of the whole texts around it.

7. What are the conventions of magazine covers? (different slides for different conventions)

• The main image is always posioned in the centre of the front cover and they are positioned in a direct address.

• If the body is not placed that way then the face will always face the audience.

Page 9: Part b

Convention #2

• Masthead – Have different positions but those positions are always based at the top, they can either be on the left side or on the right side.

• Mastheads are the main text of the magazine so that it would catch attention with the bold letters and make them easier to read as people go past.

Page 10: Part b

Convention #3

• Most texts such as slogans, competitions etc are on the side of the cover to give space for main image in the centre.

• If the texts were covering the main image in the centre then this would make it translucent and not catch as much audience.

prioritized features (3 most bold things)?

• Some magazines prioritise their logo because its part of advertising. Moreover a logo is required so audience will know the name of magazine.

• Secondly, another priority would be the main persons name on the cover so curious people will know who it is.

• Thirdly, Another priority is the presentation of text, as they have to have matching fonts and colours. Also be neatly in order to not go over the main image.
