The Institute "Samrat Ashok Technological Institute" is established by Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Eduication Society (MJES) on November 1, 1960 underthe open door policy of Goverment of India. The society constituted a Board of Governors (BOG) which governs the Institute as per the rules,regulation of Goverment of India, State Government and AICTE. A manging committee has been constituted by the BOG to take decisions on behalfof the BOG.
The Institute has various academic and administrative subcommittees approved by the Board of Governors in matters like purchase, academic boardetc.The Director of the institute is responsible for functioning of the institute. Any matter of importance is put up before the board of governors/ themanaging committee/ sub committees for decision and directives. List of members of the society and its objectives are given below.The otherdetailsof institutional management set up and of various committees is given in criterion VIII of SAR. A organisational chart has been given above insection I.6 of institutional information.

4. To layout and prepare for building purposes of the society and lands, acquired by or leased to the society.
5. To erector procure the erection of buildings, of any and all kinds upon any such lands as aforesaid and to alter, pull down improve,decorate maintain, furnish and do any other works on or for or in respect of all or any building in which the society may be interested.
6. To aid in the establishment and support of association for the benefit of persons employed by the society of in any way connected with thesociety.
7. To invest or land money whether belonging or entrusted to the society upon such manner as may from time to time be determined by thesociety.
8. To raise money or mortgage or change or in such other manner as the society shall think fit and in particular by the issue of debenturescharged upon all or in any of the property of the society both present and future.
9. To apply the income and property when so ever derived towards the promotion of the objects set out above.
10. To do all or any of the above things either along or in conjunction with others and to do all other such things as the society may considernecessary, incident or conductive to the attainment of the above objects.
11. To raise or borrow money as may be required from time to time for the purpose of the society.

Admissions to all B.E. Courses in the Institute are done by Directorate of Technical Education, Bhopal through a process of on line off campus counselingbased on the merit list of a PreEngineering Test conducted by the Vyavasayik Parikasha Mandal (Professional Examinations Board) constituted by M.P.State Government as an autonomous organization to conduct entrance tests for all professional courses in the state.
From current academic year (201415) government of Madhya Pradesh has decided to discontinue Pre Engineering Test and admission to all UGengineering courses are done on the basis of merit of JEE (Joint Entrance exam) through state level counseling .

(ii) PostGraduate Courses
Admissions to the Master of Computer Applications (MCA ) and Master of Business Administration( MBA) courses are given by online off campusconselling conducted by the Director Technical Education, Bhopal on the basis of merit list of pre MCA test and CMAT respectively.
Admission in Master of Engineering/Technology (ME/MTech) are given through a process of counseling conducted by the Institute, on the basis of theGate Score, merit in the qualifying examinations. Admissions in M.Sc. Applied Science are given on the basis of online off campus conselling conductedby Department of Higher Education Goverment of Madhya Pradesh on the basis of graduation marks. All admissions to BE, MCA, ME/MTech are subjectto provisions of ordinances of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Technology, Bhopal and admissions to MBA and MSc Applied Sciences are subjected to theordinances of the Barkatullah Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal.
