This week…
Goodbye Park Ponders,
Hello Thunks to get you Thinking!
From this week, KS1 and KS2 will each have a different ‘Thunk’ to consider and discuss in class. The Thunks are designed to get the children thinking and talking. Given the overlap with Park Ponders, we have decided that the Thunks will replace Park Ponders and therefore each week, we will share the Thunks that the children are talking about in class with you instead. Please talk to your children about their Thunk. There isn’t usually a ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answer to the questions, it’s all about justifying your ideas. Key Stage 1 Thunk
Key Stage 2 Thunk
Thought for the Week
Learning Power Focus
This week we are focusing on
being a ‘Creative Chameleon’. The Creative Chameleon
reminds us to think about
things in different ways.
You can show your teacher that you are a Creative
Chameleon by:
- Letting your imagination go
- Thinking up new ideas
and questions
- Being creative
- Being adaptable
- Suggesting alternative
strategies to answer
questions or solve problems
Current Affairs
The 2nd-8th November is UK Parliament week, a
week to learn all about how Parliament works. In
recent months, MPs who work in the House of
Commons (part of Parliament) have received
disapproval from some people who believe that
the 650 MPs who make many of the key decisions
in the running of the UK have not been working
effectively together. Particularly with regards to
Brexit, which has caused many issues between
MPs with very few agreements being reached.
Things to talk about at home...
● What do we know about how important
decisions are made in our country?
● Do we know who our local MP is? Do we
know what they do?
● Did you know you can write to or email
your local MP about any issues you have in
your area? Do you have anything you
would like to say to them?
● Do you think it is important to have one
leader in charge? What qualities do you
think they should possess? Do you think it
would be a hard job? Would you like to do
it?

Real Life Heroes visit Reception Reception welcomed some
very exciting visitors on
Thursday! We welcomed the
Fire Brigade to Park Primary
and had the opportunity to
sit in the fire engine and to
spray the hose. We have
been learning about People
Who Help Us and it was an
inspiration to meet real life
heroes.
