To Parents/Guardians of incoming York Football Players: 2017 - 2018 It is time to start preparing for the upcoming football season! There are several items that need to be addressed before the end of school and before your son can participate in athletics. The district requires that every student/athlete that wishes to participate in any sport MUST have a physical on file. All required paperwork must be properly completed and turned into their coach before they can participate in any practice or games.

***Important – Please take Note You MUST turn in the physical form to the York Jr. High Boys Athletics Department before the deadline date of June 9th, 2017 for next season. Please turn all paperwork in to the York Coaches, NOT to the clinic. If you are an incoming 7th grader, please turn in all paperwork to York Jr. High. You may turn in the paperwork to the front office. As long as the physical is after April 15th, it is valid for all of next school year (Fall 2017 – Spring 2018). Your child can get a physical on April 26th, 2017 at Oak Ridge High School for $20 cash only. The physicals run from 11:00 am - 6:00 pm. Please take advantage of this opportunity.

You must purchase the athletic apparel before June 9th, 2017. We will be sending remind101 updates, as well as updates on our website. Athletic apparel MUST be purchased through North Houston Athletics. If Not, the student will be changed to a Physical Education class period and will NOT be able to participate in football. You have 7+ weeks to get your orders in!!!

You must have the Parent/Guardian Information Packet turned in by June 9th, 2017. Both

parent and child must read carefully the packet, please be aware of what you are signing in

regards to all policies and procedures.

In order to be in Athletics and participate in Football next year, you MUST have the physical completed and turned in, the athletic apparel ordered, and the Parent/Guardian Packet completed, signed, and turned in. If these requirements are not met by June 9th, 2017, your child’s schedule will be changed to Physical Education and they will NOT be playing football. Please meet these requirements for your child.

7th Grade

Practice

The double doors located on the far right of the school building to the Athletic Hallway will open at 7:00 AM. Players are expected to be dressed and ready to go on the field at 7:30 AM. It is imperative that the student/athletes are at school by 7:00. It will take the 7th graders at least 15-25 minutes especially early on to get dressed and ready. We MUST maximize our entire practice time for fundamentals, conditioning, and the basics of football.

Players need to be prepared to clean up (shower) each day after 1st period practice. The

student/athlete is responsible for bringing soap, shampoo, deodorant, towel, etc. We do not want 2nd period teachers sending students back down to clean up and this does happen!!! There are no excuses. The students are given ample time to clean up before their 2nd period classes.

NO GLASS CONTAINERS AND/OR AEROSOL CANS ARE PERMITTED ON CAMPUS. This includes spray deodorants and colognes

Games Generally are on Mondays @ 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30 PM. Game times and locations depend on what team your child will play on. Occasionally, students may shift from team to team for various reasons. Please make sure your child informs you weekly about which team they are playing on.

8th Grade Practice

Will begin at the beginning of 7th period (last period of the day) and will end no later than 5:15! Please be at school NO LATER than 5:15 to pick up your child. If a student is repeatedly not picked up in a reasonable time, we will have to take certain measures (possible removal from team) so that our coaching staff can also get home to their families. Plan on practicing every day after school until games start

Games Generally are on Tuesdays @ 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30 PM. This will depend on what team your child is placed on. If there is ever a change, there will be advanced notification…. Please always check the website as well!

Other Important things to note:

Game schedules will be posted on the web page or a copy will be distributed after the teams are finalized. These are subject to change, thus we do not distribute the schedules early.

Players must take practice clothes home daily to wash and return the next day for practice or the games.

If a player forgets any clothing, equipment, uniform, or any other item they are responsible for, they will NOT play in that game or practice that day. We do NOT distribute loaner practice or game apparel.

All players must have BLUE or BLACK CLEATS. This is our policy, so take note before purchasing your child’s cleats, BLUE or BLACK ONLY. Please take note of this policy. For example, if the player shows up for a game in any color other than BLUE or BLACK, they won’t play.

The expectation is all injured players must continue to attend the entire practice, before or after school. They are a valuable part of the team.

The expectation is all injured players must go to the home games. All players will ride the bus to and from the games. Equipment must be checked in and

accounted for following each game by the student/athlete’s coach.

We do our best to update the website with any notifications, adjustments, or changes. Please check the York Football website and be signed up for the Remind101 updates.

PLEASE DO NOT TURN IN THIS FORM – THIS IS FOR YOUR RECORDS!!

York Athletics Quit Policy

This policy applies to those students enrolled in the athletic class. If the student/athlete quits after the semester transfer deadline (End of the 2nd week each semester), we will try to change their schedule. If at that point we are unable to do so, then the student/athlete will remain in the athletic class for the remainder of the semester.

If a student/athlete quits his sport or off-season after the semester transfer deadline, they will be held accountable to these criteria in order to receive a passing grade/credit.

1. Dress out daily or when assigned to do so.

2. Cooperate with coaches when given an assignment, complete that assignment or receive a zero for the day.

3. Be respectful to coaches, other students, teachers, administration, school personnel and school property.

4. If the student quits the off-season program, they are making the choice to be moved out of athletics and into the Physical Education program.

ISS, OSS, DAEP during Season

We have high expectations for York athletes in relation to their behavior in athletics and in the classroom. We expect each York athlete to be on his best behavior at all times. In order to have consistent rules concerning behavior in our athletic programs, we have the following consequences for athletes during the season.

ISS – Suspended 1 game (if game day falls within ISS assignment, the student will be suspended for that game. If game day does not fall within ISS assignment, suspended the first game after ISS assignment). DAEP – Suspended from practice/games while in DAEP, followed by 2 game suspension.

OSS – Suspended from practice/ 2 game suspension

If a student/athlete chooses to be a disruption, distraction, or a behavior problem and is affecting the team in a negative way the parent will be contacted and a referral will be written, If the disruptive behavior continues the student/athlete will be removed from the Boys Athletics Program. All student/athletes will be required to make up any missed conditioning when they return to practice.

Extra work will be required for any and all disciplinary issues.

Coach’s decision will be used in each situation and may penalize a player more than the policy calls for if a player has been in ISS, DAEP, or OSS before.
