General Information:

Children are expected to speak English at all times in the classroom. We use the “English ladder” to monitor this. Children are rewarded with house points. We will contact parents if children consistently struggle to speak in English.

Speaking English:

Behaviour is monitored using the Class Behaviour Chart. Each child begins the day on 0. If a child does not follow our class rules, he/she is given a verbal warning. If misbehaviour persists, he/she is moved to 1. If a child reaches 5, he/she must see Mrs Stanford and parents are informed. Certain unacceptable behaviour goes straight to 5. (fighting, swearing)

We recommend children do the lesson first, then the set homework. It is important that the children press “Checkout” when they finish and so save their work.

Spellings are given on a Friday.Children must learn them and practise writing them (Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check).Children must write a sentence for each spelling that clearly shows its meaning!(not, My cousin has a skyscraper)Spelling books should be returned by Wednesday. There may be a focus.

Spellings:

•Stage book/libro de la esquema•Chapter book/ libro de libre eleción

Children change their stage book as frequently as they wish. (Minimum of once a week) Children change their chapter book as they wish too.

Reading:

•Children record title/stage/date in their reading records. •Reading as a daily habit. (after school, in bed, bedtime story)

This year, as part of a push on reading in Primary, we have invested in an interactive website “Reading Eggs”.

for your students aged 7–13 years. The website has an enormous range of

learning resources, lessons, motivational games, e-books and a

comprehensive reporting system that together create a

unique learning environment.

•Homework and curriculum content for the coming week will be recorded in children diaries. •Any parent/teacher communications are also recorded in the relevant week. (paper clipped!)•Please, ask your children to give us the diary if there´s a message. Signature confirms reading.
