PARENT INFORMATION AND STUDENT CONDITIONS FOR MULLUMBIMBY HIGH SCHOOL’s YEAR 10 FORMAL

Dear Parent / Guardian, We recognise that a Year 10 Formal is an important part of our students’ year. It is a time for celebration and reflection. This year, Mullumbimby High School and its P & C have decided to jointly organise a Year 10 Formal with the help of a number of Year 10 students. The Mullumbimby High School Year 10 Formal will be held at the MULLUMBIMBY HIGH SCHOOL HALL on Tuesday 6th December between 6.30pm and 10:30pm. Photos will be held at Heritage Park from 5.00pm. Students at the Formal will be supervised by school teaching staff and parents who volunteer their time to be there.

RULES AND CONDITIONS OF MULLUMBIMBY HIGH SCHOOL SOCIALS

1. This information note must be signed by both the parent and the student and returned to Student Services (tear off below) before a formal ticket can be purchased.

2. The formal is for Year 10 STUDENTS OF MULLUMBIMBY HIGH SCHOOL ONLY. 3. No alcohol, cigarettes, or illegal drugs are allowed at the social. No student is to be under the influence of

alcohol or illegal drugs at the social. Students suspected of drinking prior to or during the social will be refused entry or asked to leave. Parents will be contacted and disciplinary consequences will result. This may also become a Police matter. (see rule 8)

4. Appropriate clothing must be worn. Students are requested to dress for a formal event. 5. Bags will be searched on entry and checked into the bag room. Students who do not consent to their bags

being searched will be refused entry. Bags will not be accessible until the end of the night. 6. No student will be permitted to leave before the concluding time unless met by a parent/guardian AT THE

HALL DOOR. Parents will need to collect their child at 10.30pm. 7. All students must arrive no later than 30 minutes after the scheduled commencement time. Students who want

to be admitted after this time must pre arrange permission with a Deputy Principal. 8. Students are expected to behave in a safe and responsible manner. The normal school rules of the

school’s discipline policy apply at the social as well as the conditions outlined above. Students are expected to follow the directions of teachers, security personnel and the Police. Unacceptable behaviour will result in the one or more following disciplinary consequences: warnings; banning from further socials and or school organised events; suspension.

A reminder to be invited to the Year 10 formal, students should always follow our school rules:

Respect Responsibility Learning In detail the school’s expectations are as follows:

Regular attendance with absences justified. This includes regular attendance after the school certificate.

Meeting Board of Studies requirements in all subjects.

Behaving appropriately and following the school’s rules in and out of class.

Wearing the school uniform consistently.

Paying all subject and excursion fees.

Return the signoff slip above. Please note that the school will be reviewing student records and identifying those students who are at risk of not being invited to the formal. These students will be given a warning and their parents will be notified.
