They also had the opportunity to have a look at various exhibitions and read about past and present British designers. Feedback from students showed that the trip was helpful to their learning and further enriched their knowledge. All the students on the trip have not visited the museum before, so it was an eye opener into the world of product designing. After lunch, making our way to the tube station was an icing on the cake as we walked pass and stopped at the Shad building to have group pictures and admire the genius of technology. The boys were thrilled. The trip could not have been a success without the brilliant effort and support of Form tutors, Ms Repetti, Ms Bose, Ms Kingsland, Ms Gohil and well behaved students. Match Report

Year 8 Rugby

On Tuesday 19th November, 17 year 8 boys took part in their first competitive Rugby match in the Champion Schools Rugby League Tournament. CCF played against Highgate Wood and Aylward Academy, with the winner representing North London in the next round against the Hertfordshire victor. After a shaky start, CCF began to show their potential and quickly overpowered Highgate Wood to win 18-10, Moyo Eziashi and William Prior (2) were the scorers. Next up was last year’s winners Aylward, who raced into an 8-0 lead thanks to their speedsters. CCF dug their heels in and began to create some structure, leading to some excellent team tries from Emmet Aziz, William Prior (4), Konrad Krzempek with William Prior converting 4 out of 6 tries to give CCF a 30-12 victory. A special mention must go to Moyo Eziashi who managed to carry 7 Aylward players on his back and still make 50m! Well Done Boys-Next up is Hertfordshire Mr Fleming

CCF 6th Form play a full part in Parliament Week Parliament promotes democracy and the role of parliament once a year in Parliament Week. This year CCF played a wide and engaging part in proceedings. Firstly 7 students attended an event with Dianne Abbot MP (former candidate for the Labour leadership and the UK's first black female MP), Lib-Dem Minister Meral Hussein and Helen Grant from the Attorney General's Office. The speeches and Q & A session concentrated on how we might improve the gender and racial diversity of MPs. Questions from CCF students were taken by the panel and the future representation of female, black and ethnic minority politicians seems safe in their hands - it is certainly something they feel passionately about. Secondly, 4 students - Theo Andresier, Deborah Ssekyejwe, Niamh Walsh and Jacob Bondzie represented the school at a Democracy event at the Commons hosted by local MPs. Again a host of questions came from the school's representatives and all students commented on how engaging and interesting the whole experience was. It seems a passion for democracy and debate is alive and well amongst CCF's 6th form.

The Russell group

This year's Year 12 are making the best of the opportunities that the schools' Russell Group offers. A special group

exists in the 6th form to encourage and promote applications to the UK's top universities. After only 5 active weeks

of membership students in year 12 have attended a wide range of events, lectures and Open days. The list

includes: a lecture on the Big Bang at UCL, a workshop on the biology of the ageing process at Imperial, an

interactive look at how the large gaseous planets developed held at the Royal Society, the history of the Kremlin at

the LSE, a debate on whether we can ever trust autonomous machines as well as a discussion on the meaning of

contemporary art. Two students attended Boris Johnson's sessions on the future of London and even fluid dynamics

and the science behind the emergence of the first elements in the wake of the big bang have been attended. Even a

review of the latest popular science books by Dara O'Brian provided some entertainment. But as many as 23

students are attending Kings College London every 2 weeks as part of that institutions widening participation

initiative - Christ's College is the largest participant in London on the K factor series of Maths events at Kings. Still

pending are a series of Masterclasses at Cambridge University and Year 12's eager students are registered for these

events too. All the students making the most of this opportunity deserve great praise.

Social Mobility Foundation at work at CCF

Qasim Khan of Year 13 is now an ambassador for the Social Mobility Foundation. As part of his role he promoted the educational charity to this years Year 12 recently. The SMF is a charity that attempts to promote bright students from families with no history of attending university in this country to successfully apply now. Their ASPIRING PROFESSIONALS PROGRAMME puts students who qualify in touch with a professional mentor, regular events, appropriate and rewarding work experience, summer internships and a promise to continue to provide this opportunity beyond 6th form and also whilst they are at university. Qasim benefitted from this programme from the start of his year 12 and is now trusted by the organisation to promote their work in schools. We are lucky to have him in the school to now promote these incredible opportunities to Year 12 students. We wish all those who choose to apply for this highly competitive programme all the best. Like Qasim (who is applying to do medicine this year) they too should benefit greatly from this opportunity.

Shakespeare Schools festival

A group of students from Year 8 and Year 9 participated in the Shakespeare Schools festival last week. The students travelled to The Pleasance Theatre, Islington, where they undertook a technical and dress rehearsal. The afternoon was spent rehearsing at the Islington Arts Factory, in preparation of their evening performance. Throughout the day, the students were impeccably behaved and represented our school most positively. I am incredibly proud of the maturity of the students' performance work, the boys involved were; Tuoyo Akinbulumo, Sadiq Alhadi, Haider Almas, Sezgin Aydin, Taylor Rand-Brade, Riley Fitzgerald, Alfie Fox, Plamen Georgiev, Jai Halai, Cameron MacLeod, KInquaid Malik-White, Hassan Rashid, Conor Reilly, Harrison Reilly, Ali Savabdaneshmand, Ethan Diakite, Ali Jafari, Neima Roodberi, Abel Kakas and Niam Shah.

Well done boys!

Ms Hinds

Don’t forget there is a Breakfast Club every morning from 8.00-8.30am in the dining hall

where students can purchase a variety of breakfast foods.
