Fatima: Living the Message
By Fr. Jason Brooks
Heed Your Mother’s
Advice In a time of lost inno-
cence, the faith of three chil-
dren inspired thousands and
helped the world believe in
miracles. Mary’s messages at
Fatima have been promoted by
Popes, approved by the
Church, and validated by over
70,000 witnesses. Fr. Jason
Brooks brings to light why Fatima is regarded by many as
the most important spiritual event of the past 100 years
and why Our Lady’s message is still as relevant as ever.
BONUS: Fr. Shannon Collins, retreat master and well
known speaker on EWTN, explains the intended impact
and opportunity of the messages of Fatima on the spiritu-
al lives of believers today.

e-van'-gel-ize Common Misconceptions:
Reasons Why Many Catholics Don't Evangelize
MYTH:
We Can’t Change Other People’s Minds,
Especially About Religion
Someone might say “Why do you keep talking about
your religion to everyone? You’re not going to change any-
one’s mind.” If you’ve ever been told this after sharing your
thoughts about your faith, you understand the implication:
you’re just wasting time and energy and annoying everyone
around you for nothing. Well, it’s possible that you will annoy
people, but it’s not true that you can’t change others’ minds
about their beliefs. Otherwise, why would corporations spend
billions to change people’s minds about their products? Do you
really think anyone would eat at McDonald’s if they hadn’t
been masterfully persuaded?
What’s more is that evangelization is more than mar-
keting: it has the Holy Spirit behind it, and the Holy Spirit can
do anything! I’ve seen this in my own life: I was a convinced
Protestant when some of my Catholic friends began to evange-
lize me. My sister was worried I might convert, but I assured
her vehemently that I would never become Catholic. A month
later, I converted. Let’s not make this myth an excuse to keep
us from telling others about the Faith. If we don’t tell them,
who will?

by Eric Sammons

Our parish evangelization team usually meets on the
second and fourth Saturday of each month from 10:30 am to
noon in the rectory. Check the parish website for the next
scheduled meeting.
Please note that we will NOT be meeting on August 10th.
Girls Group:
Young Friends of Fatima We are changing the start time of the meeting to
begin with Mass at 8 am on the 1st Saturday, followed by
confession, the Holy Rosary, breakfast at the Rectory. Eve-
ry month will have a new topic., a Christian virtue, some-
thing related to our Church’s calendar and a special craft.
We welcome new members. If interested call Tamara Davis
at (401) 663-5590.
Young Menz Group We are changing the start time for our meeting to
begin with the 8 am Mass on the First Saturday, followed by
confession, the holy rosary, and breakfast at the rectory.
By God’s Grace the Sisters Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary have agreed to run the Summer Bible Camp this Year for children ages 6 through 12 years of age!!! The Camp will function on the 8th, 9th and 10th of Au-
gust here at Holy Name. Activities will begin promptly at 9 AM each day and run until 5 PM. Parents are asked to contribute $20 for each child. Think of the joy that this will bring to so many children of our Parish and neighbor-hood.
