PARISH NEWS Dear Parishioners and friends, It seems impossible that Easter is but a week away. I write today, urging you to share fully in the sacred Pascal Triduum......... a prayer that begins on Thursday night at 7:30 pm, continues through Friday and concludes on Holy Saturday. In preparation for this great celebration, if you have not yet done so, I would urge you to celebrate the sacrament of penance on Monday. There will be a priest in the confessional from 3 PM until 9 PM (Father Paul from 3 until 4pm; Father D’Angelo from 4 until 6:30 pm; Father Duffell from 6:30 until 9 pm). The Masses on Easter Sunday will be offered at 8:30 am, 9:45 am, 11:15 am(Spanish), 12:30 pm and 5:30 pm The Easter collection is a major means of realizing our parish budget. I would ask you please to pray about your contribution to the parish this Easter. I hope that you are able to join me in offering $500.00 to the parish this Easter. If you could do more, it would be a great help. If not that much, know that whatever sacrificial offering you can give will be greatly appreciated. I thank you for your continued generosity. It is hard to believe, but on the Thursday after Easter, April 20th, we will be celebrating the 1st anniversary of the death of Monsignor Robert O’Connor, who served us as pastor for 29 years. On that day, Thursday, April 20th, I invite you to come together in the church at 5:30 pm for a special memorial Mass in memory of Msgr. O’Connor. Just a reminder of the Pascal Fast which “should be observed on Good Friday and continued if possible, on Holy Saturday, until the Easter Vigil. In this way, the people of God will receive the joys of the Lord’s resurrection with uplifted and responsive hearts.” (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, #110) On Good Friday, as well, meat should not be eaten. Nathan Mitchell in his work, “The Three Days of Pascha” points out, that the Pascal Triduum celebrates mystery not history. Our prayer does not take us back to the “upper room” or the path to Calvary. The ultimate purpose of our prayer is not to retrace or relive the last hours of Jesus’ life....... nor to catch sight of him emerging from the tomb at Easter’s dawning. Our prayer throughout the three days celebrates not what once happened to Jesus but what is now happening among us as a people called to conversion, gathered in faith, and gifted with the spirit of holiness. Our prayer celebrates God's taking possession of our hearts at the deepest core, re-creating us, as a new human community broken like bread for the world's life..... a community rich in compassion, steadfast in hope, and fearless in the search for justice and peace. May this Sacred Time, Holy Week....and especially the Pascal Triduum, be for all of us, a time of great grace. Pray for peace, Father Duffell

COLLECTION OF CRS RICE BOWLS: This weekend our Lenten Journey with CRS Rice Bowl comes to an end. Members and friends of the Social Action Committee will collect your Rice Bowls at the church entrance. 75% of your donation will go to Catholic Relief Services’ programs serving the poorest of the poor overseas, 25% will go toward NY archdiocesan projects that minister to the poor and vulnerable in our own community.

If you made an on-line donation, please let us know so we can include it in our parish totals. Also, let us know how Rice Bowl enhanced your Lenten journey. Write down your thoughts and include it in your Rice Bowl.

What you give up for Lent changes lives.

Rev. Dangelo J.
