ENI-FT600/4/SLK Traction InverterProduct Data Sheet

APPLICATION

The ENI-FT600/4/SLK supplies four asynchronous traction motors with controlled frequency AC voltage, and secures mobility of the vehicle upon HV power supply outages. A single box houses all the components essential for the functioning of the device. Each inverter features a dedicated microprocessor controller supervised by the tramway onboard drive controller, and both communicate with each other via CAN and I/O contacts. .

DESIGN

The inverter is housed in a powder-coated steel enclosure with powder-coated aluminium covers. The inverter is designed to be installed under the chassis of the 105N series and derivative tramway cars. On the inverter enclosure sides are vents which distribute the air from the inverter fans to the traction motors. One of the inverter enclosure walls features cable glands for connection with the equipment box. The cable terminals are beneath one of the inverter enclosure covers. The inverter box interior features a gang of four inverters for controlling four asynchronous motors. Both inverters feature a common LC input filter with a precharging circuit. The inverter box houses an input switch which can disconnect the inverter LC input filter from the tramway contact system, if required. Each inverter has a dedicated microprocessor controller, supervised by the onboard drive controller.

ENI-FT600/4/SLK Traction Inverter

OPERATION

The inverters convert the contact system DC voltage into regulated frequency and amplitude AC voltage. The inverters permit traction motor sense of rotation switchover (forward/reverse driving). The inverter control system is based on a vectoring algorithm, which is a simultaneous and indirect control of traction motor torque and rotor flux. The control algorithm deployment results in superior tractive performance over dynamic states and an optimised use of the inverter system. .

Drive inverter advantages: execution of all driving functions: start and braking (with priority resistive regeneration), coasting and braking in park, compliance with electrodynamic starting and braking parameters as defined in Regulation No. 344 of the Ministry of Infrastructure dated 02 March 2011 and concerning the technical requirements and essential outfitting of trams and trolleybus vehicles, . electrodynamic braking action to full vehicle stop, . current monitoring of drive status and vehicle starting parameters on a CAN-connected control panel. .

The inverters convert the kinetic energy of the braking vehicle into electric power. The power recovered from braking is used according to the following priorities: . returned to the contact system (if possible), . discharged by the roof-mounted braking resistor when a preset recuperation voltage threshold is exceeded. .

OPERATION

The ENI-PT600/24/WP converter transforms the tramway contact system HV into: stabilised 24 VDC output voltage for the auxiliary and battery charging/floating lines, and the stabilised three-phase AC voltage for the integrated fans and the external fan. All electrical circuits of the converter are galvanically isolated from the device enclosure. The insulation between the transformer winding blocks provides galvanic separation of the HV input lines from the AC and DC output lines of the converter, and also separates the AC lines from the DC lines. The integrated sensors of the power lines and the control system of the converter assure protection from overloads and shorting which may occur in the tram car DC and AC lines. The battery current external sensor limits the maximum battery charging current in parallel operation of the converters. The converter diagnostic system monitors the performance of the entire device and indicates its operating status via CAN outputs. .

DESIGN

The converter is installed in a sealed and robust steel sheet enclosure which houses all its necessary equipment. The enclosure side walls feature two fans which supply the air flow for cooling the vehicle on-board lines. The converter enclosure is preserved from corrosion and the operating environment by an anticorrosive coating and a powder coat finish. The enclosure front panel is removable for easy service access to the converter internal components. The enclosure side walls feature heavy-duty aluminium heat sinks, force cooled with the air flow aspirated from the outside by the fans. This arrangement assures efficient heat dissipation from the power semiconductors. The tramway HV system is connected via the connector X1 with M5 screw terminals (in the terminal box on the converter enclosure left wall). The tramway LV / DC system is connected via the HARTING B24 connector X2 (located in the lower part of the enclosure right wall). .

DESIGN

The ENI-P01024/768/2 control panel comprises a clear front glass pane with the touch screen display underneath. In the back of the touch screen display electronic components are housed in an aluminium enclosure finished with a black powder coat.

The control panel back features: 24 V power supply connectors,DC

OPERATION

The heat source of the device are two identical tube coil heating elements for heat output adjustment. The air flow from the two fans passes the tube coil heaters. The air outlet has a temperature sensor which controls the fan speed to keep the air outlet temperature below 50°C and minimise the fan noise. The thermal protection sensors are normally closed and permit switching the contactor(s) supplying the heating circuit with power. If the heater interior begins to overheat because of, for instance, air intake or outlet obstruction or fan shutdown, the temperature sensor contacts break which trips the heating circuit contactor and isolates the heating circuit from the supply voltage. .

DESIGN

The electric heater is contained within a rectangular stainless steel enclosure. Inside the enclosure is a unit of tube coil heating elements, two induced draught fans with air flow rate adjustment, thermal protection sensors, and two terminal strips, one for the heating circuit and one for the control circuit. The air fan intakes are protected with screens against foreign bodies, whereas the air outlet features flat baffles which direct the hot air stream. The back wall features cable glands for the power and control wiring. The electric heater is mounted horizontally underneath a passenger seat with two holders inserted into the mounting guides.
