Sails ran up the middle of the defense for a 67-yard run that set up an 11-yard touchdown run by Jordan Parker. Sails also converted the two- point conversion with another scamper into the end zone. Sails continued his senior night heroics with a 58-yard touchdown run that put Encinal up 25-21 with 3:34 left in the fourth quarter. “He really wanted to win this game,” said Tenorio. “He played determined. I was proud of him.” Encinal stopped San Leandro’s potential winning drive by recover- ing a fumble on at the 41-yard line. Encinal won with a final score of 25-21. The victory put an end to Encinal’s three-game losing streak. “It feels good to get this win,” said Tenorio. “This was an impor- tant game for us to win.” This marks the first win for Encinal in the new West Alameda County Conference Foothill League. The Jets are 5-5 overall and 1-3 in league play. The Jets rushed for 255 yards. Sails had 151 of those rushing yards on just 14 carries. The Jets and the Pirates committed three turnovers: Encinal had two interceptions and a fumble. San Leandro had two fumbles and an interception. With the Jets down 21-10, mid-way through the third quarter, Encinal turned to senior Corey Sails to get them back in the game and he delivered. Sails ran up the middle of the defense for a 67-yard run that set up an 11-yard touchdown run by Jordan Parker.

Sails also converted the two-point conversion with another scamper into the end zone. Sails continued his senior night heroics with a 58-yard touchdown run that put Encinal up 25-21 with 3:34 left in the fourth quarter.

“He really wanted to win this game,” said Tenorio. “He played determined. I was proud of him.”

Encinal stopped San Leandro’s potential winning drive by recover-ing a fumble on at the 41-yard line.

Encinal won with a final score of 25-21. The victory put an end to Encinal’s three-game losing streak.
