43rd Annual
Music Festival
Monday, April 8th – Wednesday, April 17th At the Christian Fellowship Church
Adjudicator - Audrey Falk JanzenM.Mus, B.Mus, B.Ch.Mus, ARCT Piano PerformanceCollege of Examiners - Royal Conservatory of Music
(Piano)
Audrey has more than 25 years of experience teaching piano and theory. Her studies, which have focused on solo and collaborative piano performance – have allowed her to develop strategies for sound pedagogical methods to address issues at any level, from beginner to advanced.
Audrey is a music festival adjudicator and a member of the College of Examiners of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto. She has been active as a musical director with productions at Rosthern Junior College for many years, worked with the musical theatre ensemble class at the University of Saskatchewan, and is a past performer at the Station Arts Centre (Rosthern) professional summer musical production.
Audrey currently is a facilitator for the Royal Conservatory of Music’s online pedagogy courses, and has previously worked as a Sessional Lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan teaching musicianship classes, and with the music department’s delivery of online courses. She maintains a small private studio teaching piano and theory, as well as some voice. She continues to collaborate with vocalists and instrumentalists, and regularly accompanies choirs. Her choral experience extends to singing with many semi-professional choirs and smaller ensembles. This training and experience are synthesized into Audrey’s approach to teaching to offer students a more holistic experience when taking lessons.
Adjudicator - Brett Mitchell(Vocal)
Brett Everett Mitchell holds a Masters of Music in classical voice performance from the University of Montana. He currently works as a voice teacher and professor at Briercrest College teaching choir, musicianship, musical theatre, and private voice lessons. He also spends some of his time working at RuBarb School of the Performing Arts mentoring and teaching young performers. Brett spends the rest of his time working as a professional singer for musical theatre and opera and specializes in English operetta, especially the works of Gilbert and Sullivan. His directing credits include Menotti’s Old Maid and the Thief for the University of Montana’s Opera Theatre and as the assistant music director for The Drowsy Chaperone performed by the famous Missoula Children’s Theatre. Brett strives to bring the musical arts to life in Saskatchewan and is passionate about the opportunities for excellent singing in the Prairie Provinces.
