OYSTER CITY SITES

COLLABORATIVE PROCESSOne useful tool for keeping our ideas straight and keeping media in one place

Site of future New School building

Probable landscape of New School building site in 1609, according to Wilikia.org

Rendering of future New School building (Designed by Roger Duffy of Skidmore Owings & Merrill)

A participant views a prototype object telling the story of how human sewage is one of the major pollutants in the NY Harbor

A participant views a shell midden, a pile of discarded oyster shells typically left behind by the Lenape Indians and later European settlers. Shell middens are still being discovered in Manhattan during construction projects and are excellent archeological finds.

A prototype object: A shell midden where participants can place informational objects (like this photograph in the lower right corner, which can be added tp the pile of shells).

Participants learning on site (example form an earlier project by Phoenix Toews)
