Year 5-6 Class

Year 2-3-4 Class

This week in 5-6 class we have done the Year 6 chapel which went very well. Everyone really enjoyed it. We have also been doing swimming. We also need everyone to practice their speeches because the speech exams are coming up soon. With Miss H we have been doing Maths and in maths we have been doing timelines and knowing how to do scales. We are still working on our Year 6 presentation and also been working on our stories which we are close to finishing. In Maths with Mrs Mac we have been doing converting fractions into decimals and also the other way. In P.D.H.P.E we have been doing what kind of groups we are a part of like swimming club and family. So remember to bring your swimmers on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, towels, and entry money unless you have a season ticket.

Greetings carers and parents of 2/3/4. Another busy week as the term, and year hurtles

towards a close. Students have completed assessments in Handwriting, Maths and Spelling this

week.

The Bush Produce Artwork is underway after making some adjustments to our original design.

The grand final for the junior debating team is at Billabong High School tonight at 6:30pm. The

debate is ‘That breakfast is the most important meal of the day’. Wouldn’t be nice if we could

bring the trophy home on that one?!!

Our camp is on next week on Thursday and Friday. Please return your permission notes if you

haven’t already. I believe this camp is a great way of finishing our school year. It is great for

the year 4 kids to farewell the class. There are a many opportunities for the class in leading

small groups and the overall social aspect. Farming kids will get a lot from this camp too. Please

remember, if attending the camp is difficult, please contact me and I will help any way that I

can so that your child can attend what is always a great time for all students.

Yours in Christ

Helmut Hartwig

This week, we started swimming lessons on a very showery day. We had hoped that the showers would stop for long

enough to have our swimming lessons, but we were wrong! We enjoyed our swimming lessons in the rain and then

needed to get picked up by our Mrs Schullers! Hopefully our next swimming lesson will be less wet!

In Reading groups, we had a close look at a new resource called Wonder words and will be focusing on completing

a variety of activities including cloze exercises, comprehension activities and games.

In Maths, we focused on revision of fractions earlier in the week and later volume and capacity. One comment was

“This is fun” .

In other KLA’S, we walked to the railway station to look at and take photos of the transport features for HSIE. The

Kinder’s finished off their posters on how to care for a pet, which worked incredibly well, as a chicken from home

was left parentless and was in drastic need of a carer! K/1 to the rescue! Thank you K/1 for helping to care for the

chicken! We also completed an activity in our Healthy Harold books, a craft activity and worked on our portfolios.

Pastor’s message But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many tres-passes and brought justification. For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. (Romans 5:15-

19)

It is almost December! The crunch is on to get everything ready for Christmas. Most important is probably a list of names for whom you would like to buy gifts…the challenge? What do you get for them? Toys? Clothes? Power tools? Electronics?

Combining your budget with a gift that will be appreciated and used by the recipient can often be a challenge.

Before you stress out or think too hard, let me encourage you to reflect on a couple Truths. While individuals may have things they want for Christmas, the one thing we all need is a solution for sin. Instead of power tools, electronics or clothes,

God gives the Gift we all needed: his Son Jesus Christ.

Unwrapping a gift is an exciting thing…but then when you realize what it really can do, the excitement builds. The story of Jesus’ birth is probably familiar to many, but do you really know and appreciate the Gift that’s “wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger”? Romans 5:15-19 unwraps God’s gift to help us realize this “gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.” The perfect life of Jesus was the “right”-ness that we all desperately needed. As a result we are justified, declared not guilty. This wonderful Gift brings forgiveness instead of condemnation. This Gift of God brings life,

instead of death.

Have fun shopping for Christmas gifts, but know that the Baby Jesus wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in the manger is

the Gift we all need and the best gift you can share this coming Christmas!

Prayer: Thank you, LORD, for giving me the greatest Gift I could ever have, your Son Jesus Christ. In him I know I am forgiven and by your grace will have eternal life, not condemnation. Use me this December to share your Gift with many others. Amen. In His name,

Pastor Adam Eime This Week: The year 6 students led our chapel service. Our senior students showed great maturity and faith as they shared with us their favourite Bible verses and some of the things they have learned about God and their own faith during their time

here at St. Paul’s. And thanks again to Miss Habermann and the school band for playing our songs in chapel.

Next Week: Chapel will be on Tuesday 2nd December at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, at12 noon. This is the Combined

School’s Christmas service.

Coming up: Tuesday the 9th December is the Closing service and Presentation night for the school, at 7.30 pm.
