    The Outdoor Education Program at YMCA

    Camp Potawotami uses the outdoors as a

    laboratory for learning and promotes a co-

    operative and ecological approach to edu-

    cation and life.

    Over 200 acres of elds, forests, prairies, wet-

    lands and lakefront provide a beautiful setting

    in which students can learn skills, gain knowl-

    edge and develop personally. No matter what

    your classroom and curriculum needs, we can

    tailor one day programs to exciting overnight

    PROGRAM GOALSOur program balances academics, outdoor

    skills and recreation so your students can

    learn and enjoy outdoor activities together.

    The time at camp allows students to see each

    other in a different setting that promotes and

    encourages cooperation, teamwork and

    understanding of ones own abilities and

    potential.

    Program goals upon completion of the

    Outdoor Education program include:

    Enhancement of science education curriculum

    Provide an opportunity for hands-on nature

    study

    Application to a variety of school curricular

    areas

    Create a safe environment for students to

    try adventure skills and learn new outdoor

    activities

    DISCOVERY UNITSWe offer hands-on classes that compliment your

    curriculum based on the Indiana State Standards

    for Education. Teachers have the opportunity to

    evaluate students strengths and areas where im-

    provements can be made through observation in

    a non-graded learning experience. Whether yourgroup is 20 or 120, for one day or a whole week,

    bring your lunch or have hot meals prepared for

    Our units are led by trained professionals who fa-

    cilitate the learning experience through group work,guided discovery, and participatory discussions.

    FACILITIES & FOOD SERVICEYMCA Camp Potawotami offers comfortable lodgingand excellent food! Students, teachers and adultchaperones stay in our fully winterized cabins ordormitories. We provide healthy, home-cookedmeals served family style. Our professional foodservice staff has an outstanding reputation and

    may be able to accommodate special dietary needsupon request.

    2012 PROGRAM RATESOne chaperone per every ten students is welcome at no charge.

    Day Program $25 per studentIncludes 3 units and 1 meal

    Extended Day Program $40 per studentIncludes 4 units, 1 evening program

    and 2 meals.

    2 Day/1 Night Program $60 per studentIncludes lodging, 5 units,1 evening program and 3 meals.

    3 Day/2 Night Program $107 per studentIncludes lodging, 8 units,

    2 evening programs and 6 meals.
