About the Workshop
The AJK Educational and Charitable Trust, headed by a team of well-qualified and experienced academicians is geared to transform dreams into reality. The
college was started in the year 2007. The college is affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and recognized by UGC under Section 2(A) and 12 (B) of the UGC Act 1956. The college is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and situated in an eco-friendly atmosphere.
The institution showcased a remarkable growth within a short span of 11 years. The vision of the college is to provide higher education ensured by quality teaching to produce human excellence by using consciousness among rural students. In the 10 years of academic excellence, we have secured 80 university ranks in the Bharathiar University examinations. In the academic year 2016 - 17, College have secured 11 ranks out of which we got 2 gold medals. AJK College of Arts and Science have participated in the rural development process of India named “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan” and ranked 115 amongst the Higher Educational Institutions in India.
The institution strongly contemplates on technology based learning by setting up a centre for e-learning that combines online and on-campus learning. Apart from teaching regular curricular subjects, the college also provides value added courses and certificate courses in order to bridge the skill gaps and make the students industry/placements ready.
Outcome-based education (OBE) is an educational theory that bases each part of an educational system around goals (outcomes). By the end of the educational
experience, each student should have achieved the goal. There is no single specified style of teaching or assessment in OBE; instead, classes, opportunities, and assessments should all help students achieve the specified outcomes. The role of the faculty adapts into instructor, trainer, facilitator, and/or mentor based on the outcomes targeted.
Outcome –Based Education is being practiced at global level to ensure the quality of education in institutions of higher learning at the tertiary level. OBE is an educational philosophy wherein student-centric learning approaches are used to measure student’s performance based on predetermined set of expected outcomes. In this context, outcomes are defined as a set of values or attributes that a student should acquire through the educational process. OBE is based on developing an educational system around goals.
Outcomes-based education has a number of advantages for instructors, educational developers, administrators and students, including: Providing a strategic way to enhance the quality of teaching and learning; Helping to ensure the approval and accreditation of new and existing programs; Providing a mechanism for ensuring accountability and quality assurance; Helping students to take responsibility for their own learning; Providing a means for students to articulate the knowledge, skills and experience
acquired during their program; Providing a framework for collaborative curriculum planning; Providing a tool for evaluating and improving the curriculum; and helping to encourage
continuity between undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education.
The workshop is organized with the intention of augmenting the knowledge on Outcome-based education (OBE).The workshop is an interactive and exercise based activity with the following objectives. Explain outcome-based education framework in one’s
own curricular setting To explore the implications of OBE Discuss the nature and development of higher
order thinking skills and their vital role in promoting transformative learning among students,
Formulate relevant and valid objectives that reflect learning outcomes.
Organize topics in OBE Design interactive strategies to achieve learning
outcomes. To generate realistic and workable ideas to the
implementation of OBE
