Designing & Laying Industrial Concrete Flooring

The performance of a floor depends on the design. specificaon and the technique used in its construcon. Scheduled regular inspecon and maintenance is necessary to in-service performance.

Successfully constructed floors are a result of an integrated and detailed planning process that focuses on the current and potenal future use of the floor. The use of a design brief form the start of the planning process in strongly recommended, resulng in a comprehensive specificaon.

The requirement for concrete industrial ground floors include the following.

The floor should serviceable, assuming planned maintenance and no gross misuse or overloading.

The floor must be able to carry the required stac point loads, uniformly distributed loads and dynamic loads, without unacceptable deflecon, cracking, selement or damage to joints.

Joint layouts should take into account the locaon of racking uprights or mezzanine floor columns.

Joints should be robust in both design and construcons.

Joints and reinforcement should be detailed to minimise the risk of cracking.

The floor surface should have suitable surface regularity.

The Floor Floor surface should have suitable abrasion, chemical and slip resistance.

The Floor should have the required type of finish.

A model design brief is given in Appendix A, which can be adapted to suit the requirements of each project.

The may be addional factors to be taken into consideraon for exmple, slabs for waste transfer facilies will be subjected to high wear from the mechanical damage associated with front-loader buckets. Joints and drain-lines are parcularly vulnerable. Similar problems are experienced with floors for bio-stores and composng facilies. In addion there is a risk of gradual surface deterioraon from the liquor produced from the composng. Temperature generated from the composing process can also be high, causing differenal movements.

Vacuum Dewatering Flooring (Tremix)

The vacuum dewatering (VDS) flooring method is a system for high quality laying of concrete floor with optimal cost effectiveness. The key to use this method is the dewatering of, by vacuum process. Surplus water is removed from concrete immediately after placing and vibrating which reduces the water cement ratio to an optimum level. Surface vibrator runs on prefixed guide channels and vibrates the concrete. Concrete surface is then skim floated by walk behind power trowel to get smooth finish, same trowel is used with blade fitted. It is most commonly used concrete floor laying technique in India. We have been providing this technique since a long time and have 15 sets of tremix flooring machines across India. We use machine with three phase power suited for small daily output @200 Sq.mtr. per day. The floor construction is in long strip of 4 meter width. Guide channel are manually fitted to require line & level.

The vacuum dewatering (VDS) flooring method is a system for highquality laying concrete floor with optimal cost savings.

Advantage of Vacuum Dewatering System :-* Increases the compressive strength by 40 - 70% (higher increase is at the top

surface)

* Increases Wear Resistance.

* Reduces Shrinkage of Concrete

* Strength gain in Vacuum concrete is faster than the normal way, hence earlier

usability is possible.

* Surface permeability is reduced to 0 (Under Laboratory Condition)

* Reduces porosity by 20% (i.e. Dense Concrete)

* 4 meter wide strip floor construction.

Truss Screed Floor (FM2 floor) Truss Screed allows construction to be done with extended construction joints hence saving on the cost & time. It provides a better level of tolerance. Output per team improves from 200 m2 in case of VDF to minimum of 400 m2 to 800 m2 in case of truss screed. Variable width sizes are available from 5 mtr. to 8 mtr. Required team size is of 8-10 people.

Advantage Of Truss Screed Floor:-

(A) Increases productivity, flatness, quality & efficiency.

(B) It provides high strength, dense & durable flooring.

(C) FM2 floor can be achieved.

(D) T ime saving process.

The truss come in sections, ranging from 3 to 11 feet long, which interlocks the required span distance up to a maximum of

about 30 to 40 feet, depending upon the machine used. Either hand-operated or hydraulic winches typically serve to propel the

truss screed along the edge forms and across the surface. Hydraulic-powered truss screed can move at variable speeds, some

up to 24 feet per minute. The obvious benefit of truss screed is their ability to screed much larger areas in a single pass.

Laser Screed Floor Laser Screed Flooring allows you to lay concrete floors in wider bays of any size. With the help of this type of flooring system we can reduce time, labor, numbers of construction joints and it eventually improves the flatness of floors. Laser Screed simultaneously cuts, vibrates, and levels the concrete in single pores. All these operations are controlled by laser transmitter, receiver and computers, due to which manual errors are eliminated. Copper head XD 3.0 is best machine for better performance. This system of floor construction is mainly used for large area distribution centers and manufacturing units. Through this large factory floor areas can be laid in few days. With the help of copper head XD 3.0, 1500 sqm. area of flooring is possible in a single day with 1 set of machine & experienced applicators. It can carry out floors as per TR 34 Numbers and DIN systems, levels and flatness is achieved through sophisticated measuring systems and trained floor laying team.

Advantage of Laser Screed XD 3.0 :-

(A) It increases productivity, flatness quality & efficiency with laser accuracy.

(B) Easily places low slump concrete, larger aggregate mixes & fiber reinforced concrete.

(C) Provides high strength, dense and durable floors.

(D) It improves flatness and levelness in comparison to any other flooring method.

(E) No need to do shuttering at every four meter.

(F) Fewer working days- A lot of time can be saved from this method.

Benefits of Using Laser Screed for Concrete Leveling:-

Laser screed offer many benefits for concrete contractors when compared to manual screeding techniques:-

Flatter floors - One of the greatest benefits of laser screeds is that they can achieve laser-precise flatness and levelness every single time. Floors are typically flatter, stronger, and more levelled than those produced by conventional methods. Less manual effort - Laser screed allow you to get more work done with fewer workers because the equipment is doing the majority of the strenuous work. This helps in increasing efficiency on the job site as larger daily placements can be completed with fewer workers. Increased accuracy - Laser guided technology helps to assure that concrete contractors achieve greater accuracy on every job. This increases customer satisfaction and can lead to further profitability. Faster placement - Laser screed equipment can easily move around job site obstacles and eliminate most framework. This means that more floor or paving can be placed each day, helping you meet schedule deadlines or even surpass them. All of these benefits allows you to increase productivity, efficiency, and quality of each and every job. Using this equipment also leads to reduction in labor costs, since the technology allows for faster placement and reduced manual labor. Ultimately, laser screed can help concrete contractors increase their profits as they are able to produce better quality work in a lesser time.

Super Flat Floor Concrete floors are critical elements in any industrial & warehouse facility. This is particularly the case in high-bay warehousing, where high tolerance, very flat floors are essential for the efficient operation of the materials handling equipment used. We understand the importance of correctly designing and installing these floors, often referred to as Super-flat floors. We at Master Floors, are specialized in Designing & Casting Super flat concrete floor slab as per fine tolerance prescribed by international flooring standard in including Technical Report 34, DIN 1 8202, DIN 15-185, all ASTM standards (including the Fine specification), and many other leading international standard.

Steel Fiber (Fiber Reinforcement Concrete)

Concrete materials are very brittle when subjected to normal tensile stresses and impact loads. There has always been a need to add reinforcement to concrete to compensate for this lack of ductility. In many cases, the concrete member is kept intact using steel bars or welded wire fabric reinforcement in one or two locations of potentially high stress. If the concrete cracks, the concrete is hinged together at those limited locations. The introduction of randomly distributed steel fiber reinforcing throughout the concrete mix transforms the hardened concrete material into a more flexible composite system. The tensile stresses of the concrete are not just compensated in one or two locations. The concrete material is reinforced throughout the entire concrete section, in multiple directions. Steel fiber reinforced concrete is able to withstand much greater stresses, both prior to and after cracking. Homogeneously reinforced concrete has substantially greater fatigue and impact resistance than conventionally reinforced materials greatly reducing the potential for fractures and spalling. If the concrete cracks, steel fiber reinforcement is able to minimize the crack width. Steel fibres, an alternate concrete reinforcing material, are high tensile steel wire with Hooked End, Crimped round and Crimped Flat steel fiber together for compactness and uniform desperation in concrete. Steel fiber concrete flooring can provide superior resistance to minimize cracks in hardened concrete, as well as maximize it to withstand heavy loads, either dynamic or static. If you decide to use steel fiber concrete flooring you can select to use a joint- less floors that have minimal joints, providing spaces without joint as large as 40 or 50 meter span wide. Fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) may be defined as a composite material made with Portland cement aggregate and incorporating discrete discontinuous fibers. Now why would we wish to use such fibers to concrete? Plain unreinforced concrete is a brittle material, with a low tensile strength and a low strain capacity. The role of randomly distributed discontinuous fibers is to bridge across the cracks that develops, provides some post cracking ductility. If the fibers are sufficiently strong, sufficiently bonded to material, and it permits the FRC to carry significant stresses over a relatively large strain capacity in the post cracking stage.

Advantages Of Steel Fiber For Concrete Flooring :-

** An increase in load bearing capacity due to the redistribution of stresses.** Joint spacings can considerably be increased. ** Reduction of concrete slab thickness. ** Increases durability. ** Low maintenance cost. ** Improved flexural properties. ** Reduced absorption of water, chemicals, etc. ** Faster construction due to eliminations of rebar reinforcement. ** Easier positioning of joints.** Reduces site labor for managing steel reinforcement.

Glass Man (Glass Fibers) Glassman Fibres are designed to use in dry mix systems or other premixing processes. The glass strands permits efficient reinforcement at low dosages. It has the flowing properties — Good liquidity and integrity. Glassman glass Fibres are also used at low addition level to prevent cracking & improves the performance in concrete. Glassman glass fibres do not protrude through the surface and require no additional finishing procedures. Adding glass fibres in concrete minimizes early shrinkage cracks during the concrete setting phase. It works best for shrinkage cracks and with Steel Fibre mix for reinforcement and flooring. It is extensively used for spray concrete, plastering in buildings and structural works like beams and columns. There are two types of glass fibres- AR glass fibres which is Alkaline resistant and E-glass fibres which has low alkaline resistance.

ARMOURJOINT® is a leave-in-place formwork and load transfer system designed specifically to meet the demanding needs of today's industrial concrete floors.

It provides heavy-duty reinforcement to slab panel edges by way of two solid, high specifications, cold drawn steel sections each nominally 10mm thick x 40mm deep.

ARMOURJOINT® also features a unique, Asymmetrical Plate Dowel design for superior load transfer, while the sleeves are designed to facilitate a class leading +/-20mm of longitudinal movement along the joint and 30mm maximum joint opening.

Armour Joint

They act as a permanent formwork, creating a secure boundary or day joint during the concrete pour. They allow the concrete slab to contract in a controlled way, to prevent random cracks occurring. They protect the construction joint arrises from impact damage once the building is in use, saving the expense of repair. They allow efficient load transfer between concrete slabs, for a stable and durable floor.

All our products allow design and construction of floor slabs in conformance with BS EN 1991-1-1:2002 & BS EN 1992-1-1:2004 and to best practice as set out on TR34 4th edition. All our products comply with the Construction Products Regulation (Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011), and hold appropriate CE marking.

Armoured joints are used to create a boundary in which to contain a day's concrete pour. As the concrete sets and contracts, the two sides of the joint (held together with frangible rivet connectors) are gradually pulled apart horizontally. Dowels fixed through the centre stop the slabs moving vertically and allow for load transfer between the two sections of the floor. Once the floor has contracted, the gap between the two sides can simply be filled with a suitable joint sealant.

Armoured Joints (also Called "leave-in-place Joint Systems") Offer Four Important Benefits:-

Page 13: “Our reputation is as solid as concrete”

Euco Diamond Hard (Concrete Polishing System)

Proven Performance

Procedure:-

EUCO DIAMOND HARD is a liquid densifier and sealer for concrete that penetrates, reacts, and bonds within the

surface to produce a harder, dust proof, liquid repellent floor. Concrete treated with EUCO DIAMOND HARD resists

tire marking and is easily maintained. And because EUCO DIAMOND HARD is a sealer that penetrates, it doesn't change

the non-slip texture of concrete and never shows wear patterns or peels off like membrane, forming coatings which

other sealers sometimes do.

Silicate materials have been used to improve the durability of concrete since the World War II era, when silicate was used

to quickly strengthen new concrete runways on military bases. The synergy of silicate and siliconate together has been

proven in EUCO DIAMOND HARD for over two decades. Join the impressive list of businesses and design firms who

have specified EUCO DIAMOND HARD for their most important projects.

The silicate and siliconate compounds present in EUCO DIAMOND HARD each play a unique role in densifying and

sealing concrete. The silicate in EUCO DIAMOND HARD chemically reacts with calcium hydroxide (also known as

portlandite) in the surface to produce calcium silicate hydrate (CSH) - the primary strength-providing portion of

concrete paste. Portlandite is a soft, porous mineral that is subject to carbonation and chemical attack, so replacing it with

the much stronger CSH is a major benefit of EUCO DIAMOND HARD. The siliconate in EUCO DIAMOND HARD also

reacts with the concrete to form a hydrophobic polymer within the pores and on the concrete surface. The ultimate

result is a concrete floor that is exceptionally dense and liquid-repellent, which provides long-lasting protection and

durability.

Ultrasil Li+

Densifier, Sealer, and Dust Proofer For Concrete

ULTRASIL LI+ is a water-based lithium silicate solution used to densify, seal and dustproof concrete surfaces. ULTRASIL LI+ penetrates and chemically reacts within the concrete surface, producing extremely hard and dense calcium silicate hydrate (CSH) in the pores. The result is concrete that is more durable, easier to clean, and more resistant to damage from water and mild chemicals. Because the product of the lithium silicate-concrete reaction is formed internally, the protection of ULTRASIL LI+ never peels or flakes off, is unaffected by moisture, and lasts much longer than surface sealers and coatings.

Features & Benefits :-

Seals, densifies and dustproofs concrete in one operation Water-based, low VOCs Treated concrete is more dense and durable Permanent treatment that never peels off Makes concrete easier to maintain Can Contribute to LEED points (EQ Credit 4.2)
