Principals Corner: Oakbrook families,

We are very excited about our upcoming showcase school visit! Capturing Kids Hearts is a way of life

here at OES. “If you capture a child’s heart, you capture their mind,” is a quote that we live by each and

every day. Affirmations are one way we communicate our appreciation and admiration for one another.

Every classroom has an affirmation station for students to leave notes for one another, as well as the teacher.

We spend several weeks at the beginning of the year discussing how to write a powerful affirmation.

Affirmations are positive and specific. In the media center, you will find a “school wide” affirmation

station. Students can write affirmations to anyone within the school and drop it off at our media center post

office. Students are often seen leaving affirmations for bus drivers, friends in other classes, cafeteria staff

and previous teachers. Kind words are very powerful and leave an impact that may be greater than you can

imagine. I challenge you to take the time to affirm your child, your child’s teacher, or anyone you feel has

impacted your day. It could mean more than you know.
