The Ladysmith Primary Story: At LPS we are ready to write our next chapter!
Ladysmith Primary has been called the land of the little people, but these days, there is a bigger story to be told. We have grown to become a unique community of students enrolled from Strong Start to Grade Three. As the only NLPS Primary school we are embarking on a new era of learning with New B.C. Curriculum, Assessment and Collaborative Teaching Practices. We are on the cusp of some new and exciting changes in our little school and this year we will begin to tell you the story of our journey. Stay tuned for monthly updates in The LPS Story and join us soon for our new LPS Website.

OUR LPS STORY SEPTEMBER 16, 2016
Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission residential school commemoration event held in Williams Lake, BC in the spring of 2013. It grew out of residential school survivor Phyllis’s account of having her shiny, new orange shirt taken away on her first day of school at the Mission, and it has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of residential schools happening annually. The date was chosen because it is the time of year in which children were taken from their homes to residential schools, and because it is an opportunity to set the stage for anti-racism and anti-bullying policies for the coming school year. Orange Shirt Day is also an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.
