Dear Parents and Friends
Term 1 Reflection Hard to believe we are nearing the end of Term One; it has certainly gone very quickly. Much has happened this term and there have been some wonderful learning opportunities for all of our students here at Our Lady of Lourdes. Next term will be no different and I encourage each and every student in our school to keep striving to be the best person they can be. I also thank our parent community for your support throughout the term. There will be many more opportunities to be involved next term and I encourage you to do so.
Social Media If you are posting photos or videos of your child at a school event on social media can you please make sure that it is only your child. It is not appropriate to post images of other students without asking permission from their parents/guardians. This is a sensitive topic and many families do not want photos of their children on the internet or social media. Please think carefully and be very mindful of this when posting images.
Technological Developments Next term there are some exciting technological developments happening here at OLOL which we believe will make it easier for parents to access important information. 1. We will be launching an Our Lady of Lourdes smartphone application where with the touch of your screen
you will have access to a range of school information 2. The format of the newsletter will change 3. The canteen is going online (see the flyer in today’s newsletter for details on how to register) 4. There will be 80 new IPads for use across the school. Stay tuned as more information will be disseminated early in Term Two on how to access the smartphone application and how this technology will benefit us as a community.
VISION Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School seeks to offer excellence in education, enlivened by the life and teaching of
Jesus Christ in a school community where the dignity of each person is valued.

Pupil Free Days – April 24, 25 and 26
The first day of Term Two for students is Thursday 27th April. Please put this date into your diary as Monday
24th April is our staff Catholic Day Holiday that is given to us in recognition of the Sacramental and Religious
celebrations we attend throughout the year. April 25th is ANZAC Day and April 26th is a Professional
Development Day for staff.
EDU-Dance Concert
The Edu-Dance concert today was absolutely fantastic. It was great to see a showcase of what the students
have been learning every Wednesday with Miss Belladonna. What really pleased me the most was seeing the
smiles on the faces of the students when performing in front of such a big crowd. I would sincerely like to
thank Miss Belladonna for teaching the students here at Our Lady of Lourdes, I think it’s pretty safe to say
they really enjoyed their lessons every Wednesday. Thank you also to all the members of our community
that turned up to support our classes. It is very much appreciated. Finally, well done to all students involved
the showcase today is a real credit to you.
Super 8’s Cricket Carnival
Our Year Five and Year Six students were tremendous ambassadors at the recent Cricket Carnival. They were
able to participate as a team and there were some excellent cricket skills on show. The children can be very
proud of their achievements and positive sportsmanship. I thank Mr Mammoliti for coordinating the event
and Mrs Russo and Miss Burns for their excellent umpiring.
Online Canteen
At the start of Term Two the Our Lady of Lourdes canteen will be going online through Quickcliq formally
known as Our Online Canteen. You will be able to order and pay for your child’s lunch online from the
comfort of your own home, no cash required.
Until everyone is familiar with the new system you will still also be able to order the old way by paying with
cash at the canteen. You will still be able to buy recess items and limited other items such as ice creams at
lunch time. For those of you with the stickybeaks lunch bag you will no longer require them here at school as
the system prints orders off directly onto bags loaded into the printer. Instructions on how to get started are
included later in the newsletter. The upcoming holidays will be a perfect time to sign up and get started.
First Communion Retreat
On Monday the Year Four class and some Parish students attended a retreat at the Schoenstatt Shrine in
Armadale. The retreat was in preparation for their First Holy Communion which is coming up on Sunday May
7th. The students had a great day completing activities and really focussing in on how special it is to receive
the Body and Blood of Christ. It is a big step in the faith journey of each of these students and as a
community we will support and pray for them as they continue their preparations. I would like to thank Mrs
Cruttenden for organising the retreat and a big thank you to the parents that attended, your support is much
appreciated.

Don’t forget Running Club tomorrow morning. We will leave from the library at 8:00 a.m. sharp and walk to Woodchester Oval.
Last year we raised $399.00 through our Clothing drive.
The money has been donated to Oxfam Australia.
As part of our activities in our tenth year as a Water
Wise school we wanted to recognise how important
water is to communities, not just our own, but globally.
This contribution to Oxfam will help bring hope for the
future for people whose need is so great.
Thank you to all those families and staff who helped to
fill our bin with all their unwanted clothing, shoes etc.,
the response was very much appreciated.

Our Year One to Six students’ were able to add to their growing bag of sports skills and tricks this term as they took part in a series of tennis clinics, coached by David, Shane and Ashleigh, from ProEdge Tennis Academy. The clinics were conducted at school, during P.E classes, with each of the coaches doing a great job of imparting their skills and knowledge of the game on to our students. Age proved no barrier, with even our Year One and Two classes showing how they could impersonate the likes of Federer, Djokovic and Williams with their forehand, volley and backhand shots. In addition to this, the upper years were taught how to combine all their skills, including serving, within mini games against their classmates, coaches and teachers - It was a lot of fun for everyone!
