RECITALS

It is important for students to hear other students play and sing. There is

also great value in students performing in public. Therefore, each student

will be encouraged to attend and perform at one of the recitals in May and

should plan to remain for the entire time. Additional performance

opportunities may be offered throughout the academic year.

PURPOSE

The purpose of The Music Academy at Salisbury is to provide individual

and small group instruction in music to the congregation and the

community. The Academy will provide a safe, supportive, Christian

environment with high-quality instruction. Our mission is to nurture the

musical growth of children, youth and adults and enhance their abilities to

participate in the musical life of the community.

INSTRUMENT POLICY

A student should be able to practice on an instrument that facilitates

progress. Guitars, violins, violas and cellos should be fitted to the

individual and may need upgrading as the child grows. Piano students

may begin on a keyboard for one semester only. After that time, having

an acoustic piano is imperative, or the student’s technique will suffer,

and precious instructional time will be lost. The coordinator and teachers

will be happy to recommend dealers for new, used, or rental instruments.
