    December 2011

    Hi

As you know from the course plan, we will be continuing to have discussion sharing

types of study which will enable us to grow in God as individuals and as a group. The years

theme is Being a Biblical Christian but we are basing our study times with the group on theoutline of the Old Testament.

We will not be able to go too deeply into all of the Old Testament but it will serve as

an introduction for many of our group members to the relatively unknown area of Old

Testament studies. Many know various stories of the great Biblical characters: David, MosesAbraham Daniel etc but many also are not too aware of where they are in relation to each

other and the panorama of all that God was doing and revealing in the years that the Old

    Testament covers.

I will be providing monthly study notes as before in the Ask Tell Share framework I

introduced to the Grace Family Freedom Stream Declarations we did as groups last year. This booklet is for you as a leader of the Home Groups in Torpoint and St Cleer. It provides

background brief introductions to the areas we will touch during the year. They are extracts

from the teaching notes I gave to my students in the various Bible Schools I led andlectured on over the years in churches across the South West. There is much more here

than we will be able to cover in our 2 session per month! Dont panic!! It may be that I will

produce some part of these notes as hand outs to the members.

As ever dont hesitate to get in touch with me or Martin if you want guidance, support,

a stand-in or you have suggestions for improvements.

Share your questions joys and blessings!

Thanks for you faithfulnessGod bless you much

the reign of the first king of Israel is covered then the reigns of all the kings of Judah whooverlapped him, then the next king of Israel and so on.

    * Spiritual considerations are again the criterion for assessing how much space is given to each king. The writer usually comments on how much the king conformed to right worship and whetherthey abolished the ' high places' of Caananite worship.

    * Show the growth, zenith, decline and exile of God's chosen nation.

    1 Kings. 1 - 11 = United Kingdom under Solomon

    1 Kings. 3 - 8 = Solomon's rise.1 Kings. 9 11 = Solomon's decline.1 Kings. 12 -22 = The divided kingdom.

= The ministry of Elijah in Israel.2 Kings. 1 17 = The history of the 2 kingdoms.

2 Kings. 18 25 = Judah survives then exiled to Babylon

    * There were 19 kings of Israel - all bad!* There were 20 kings of Judah - 6 good, 4 mixed and the rest bad.
